I had never heard of Anatomicals before but happened to stumble across it on ASOS.com. After reading some online reviews I decided to give it a try - at only £2 a bottle and with a free delivery promo on at the time it wasn't a lot to lose.
Well, I have to say I'm very impressed with this conditioner. It is white in colour and I found it to have a very delicate floral scent. Not a strong or overpowering scent but very pleasant nevertheless. It's very thick and creamy in texture and it sinks into the hair well but also rinses out very well too - I hate the feeling of having a residue of conditioner after I have rinsed it.
I was able to get a brush through my wet hair relatively easily and this is always a good thing as I have long hair that tangles easily. After my usual blow drying (with no other styling products I might add) I was left with soft, shiny hair which still feels really soft even the next day.
I have tried many, many conditioners in my time and have never yet found one which gives me everything it promises. I have spent a fortune on top branded haircare and have tried all the high street ones too (which is not good for a poor students bank balance :( !). For the price, this is definately the best value for money I have had conditioner-wise and I will definately keep using this as a bathroom staple.
I recently discovered this brand which I had never previously heard of called Anatomicals. They are really modern and funny and I instantly started a little love affair with them! I really would urge anyone to go and have a look at their website (anatomical.net), if nothing else, it will really make you laugh.
Amongst the goodies I ordered based on just liking the look of the brand, and the fact that it was all cheap as chips anyway, was this conditioner; The Sleek Shall Inherit the Earth. Before even receiving it had some great plus points; it had a funky pink themed bottle, I loved the name, and it was really cheap!
Apparently, to summarise; "use this conditioner and the whole planet is yours" Anatomicals tell us, as who can believe the RE teachers who told us it was the meek who would inherit the earth; "have you seen their hair?" Anatomicals tell it how it is though and admit that it is the "vain and self-obsessed about their hair who will inherit the earth".
The packaging is modern, and funky but also quite simple. It fit's in well with the rest of the Anatomicals range. It has a clear bottle (great for knowing how much product is left) with a large pink label with humorous text filling the whole thing. Particularly funny, was the bit that claims "countries worth trillions and trillions of dollars can be yours for the price of a humble hair product * terms and conditions apply".
I didn't have any leakage problem with this bottle as it winged it's way to me, overcoming the many obstacles that the postal service put in it's way, however as I flipped open the lid to have a whiff when I got it product literally oozed out all over the place. Quick get a tissue, wipe it away, quick more is coming out, wipe it away...the cycle continued until I close the lid. I think the bottle must have been over filled/had some pressure in it. Anyway, when it came to getting it out in the shower it took a really good squeeze to get any out, so the bottle design, being the same as that of the shampoo does have a bit of a fault in that the stuff comes out when you don't want it to, and won't budge when you do want it too! I think it might be difficult to get the product out when there's not much left.
The conditioner itself has barely any fragrance. It doesn't really smell of much at all, not a particularly male or female scent and very subtle, barely there. I thought this was a little bit disappointing as I do love my smelly products, but I suppose this is good if you don't want something that is going to clash with your other products. I used this after using the strongly mint scented Young, Free and Tingle shampoo, and after using the conditioner the scent of the shampoo was still the one that was present.
The conditioner is fairly thick and easy to apply. After smoothing through my hair with my fingers my hair became completely tangle free. There are no instructions on the Anatomicals bottle but I left mine on for about 2-3 minutes as that seems to be the norm with most conditioners and also because I feel the longer it's on the longer it has to work it's magic so I leave all conditioners on a few minutes even if they don't state to.
I actually felt that the conditioner reminded me a fair bit of Tresemme conditioner, in thickness, appearance, and even the mild scent. It performed a little better than Tresemme though and did leave my hair feeling smooth and tangle free after rinsing out.
I didn't apply any styling products like I normally would whilst drying the hair as I wanted to be able to give an accurate reflection of the product itself. The hair was really easy to dry, didn't tangle or brake and was easy to comb through and get a straight finish. The finished result was smooth hair that looked in good condition, had no fly always and no frizz or split ends showing. It wasn't shiny in a glossy way, although I've yet to experience a shampoo or conditioner that can do this alone without additional styling products, so I wasn't expecting that from it. It did however look really healthy, and much better than how my hair would normally without using styling products on it.
I then straightened without styling products to get a full idea of the finished effect. The result was healthy looking hair that didn't look damaged, frizzy or fly away. It did look sleek but again by this I don't mean in that glossy shiny way you can get from using a serum and shine spray but I wouldn't expect it too. I think used in conjunction with these products your hair would look fantastic, but even without it looks more than good enough to wear it down.
All in all I would say this is better than your everyday brands such as Sunsilk, Tresemme, Timotei etc but it's not as good as some more expensive conditioners.
All in all I was happy with the results, I love the how fun and modern the products are and at £2 for a bottle I've got no complaints. This is great as an every day conditioner.
It is available from asos.com and also directly from the anatomical website. They both charge around £3-£4 for delivery, which obviously bumps the price up quite considerably so it's worth waiting till you are ordering a few things. I've also read that it is available in House of Frasier or Superdrug although can't personally vouch for it. I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for it in Superdrug.
