Advantages: Great quality shampoo
Disadvantages: None
As I have mentioned in other reviews, I am a "Savvy Shopper" and am not the sort of person to spend a lot of money on beauty products. Not because I don't like them or do not wish to use them, but merely because I have always had to watch my household budget like a hawk, therefore I tend to only buy shampoo according to price.
Whilst out and about shopping in town this weekend I popped into Poundland and was exceptionally pleased to find some very reputable brands of shampoo and conditioner, at the grand old price of - yes, you have guessed it - £1 !!
The shampoo that I bought was Andrew Collinge Colour Therapy, Purity, 250ml in size. I have researched this product onlline and can see that you can buy it on Amazon and various other onlne retailers for around £5. So my bargain cost of £1 has set this purchase off on a very good footing!
The information I have found online about this product tells me that it protects vibrancy and shine of colour treated hair - perfect for my hair, which has been highlighted with strong hairdressers bleach, apparantly it washes and nourishes your hair with a special blend of nourishing Blue Lotus Root & vitamin rich Perilla Seed Oil. This sounds good.
I wash my hair daily and so far have used this shampoo for three consecutive days. The shampoo is sold in a squeezy tube, the sort that sits "upside down" with a screw cap fastening. Once my hair is wet I squeezed the equivalent of a tea spoons worth onto the palm of my hand and lathered it into my hair.
The first thing I noticed about this shampoo is that it is very thick indeed, I am generally used to a more liquid type of shampoo. It has a pleasant smell to it too, I am not able to describe the smell exactly, certainly I couldn't tell you that it has a strong floral or citrus aroma, it just smells mildly of shampoo.with a slight tinge of apple. Very pleasant indeed.
I lathered the shampoo into my hair. I have hair that goes past my shoulder blades, so sometimes, with some brands of shampoo I need to use a second "dollop" of shampoo. With this product the teaspoons worth seemed enough - this amount of shampoo coated my hair, but strangely it did not lather up a great deal. Not all shampoos create large amount of bubbles and lather I assume, and the shampoo certainly seemed to cover my hair with no problem.
The shampoo rinsed easily too, I didn't feel that I needed to give my hair a second shampoo, as I seem to wash my hair daily, out of habit, rather than because my hair is dirty.
The product states that this shampoo contains UV screen to protect my hair from the sun. My highlights do suffer when the sun is strong, my hair tends to go very dry and the colour can turn "brassy" - as it is February this is not a problem I am suffering with at the moment, but is something I will keep an eye out with interest, as a shampoo that helps protect my hair from this damage wold certainly be very worthwhile.
After towel drying my hair, I brushed it through and was very pleasantly surprised as to how easy the brush went through my hair. This shampoo certainly makes my hair feel soft and manageable.
During blow drying I was aware that there was not as much static electricity in my hair as there usually is.
Once dry, I have found my hair to be extra shiny and soft - something I can most definitely give credit to this shampoo for.
Would I buy it again.? Absolutely.. I am off to Poundland again this week and hope to buy a few tubes... Would I pay full price for it? Yes actually, there is a good chance that I would.
I have been using cheap shampoos, and now realise that my hair feels like it has been looked after in a salon
Very recommended
