Advantages: Much cheaper than other brands, but as good.

Disadvantages: Lid can be a little difficut to open.

I have unfortunately always suffer with a dry and flaky scalp, so have always used anti dandruff products, after buying my own house and being in charge of my own budget I have had to change some of the brands I use, obviously my mum has more money than me!

The product I will now review is - "Asda sensitive anti dandruff shampoo"

This particular brand is very similar in appearance to the "Head and shoulders" brand, the bottle is white and blue in colour with a flat lid, this makes it much easier to get every last drop from the bottle as you can effectively stand it on it's head.

The lid is a flip top design, but doesn't have much of a lip on it, so it can be a little difficult to open.

As this product is stated to be colour free and only lightly fragranced I wasn't sure what to expect, I am a bit partial to scented products so didn't know if I would like this.

The scent is peasant enough, very fresh smelling and the colour is white with a pearlescent sheen over the top.

Very little is required to build up a good lather, around the size of a 10p piece. Thoroughly wet hair and rub gently into hair and scalp, I always try to do that lovely head massage that the hairdressers do to stimulate my scalp, but I have come to the conclusion it's like tickling, I can't be done by yourself to yourself!

Once you are satisfied that you have rubbed for long enough, simply rinse out. It doesn't take long for the bubbles to disperse, even though the lather is quite thick.
The bottle states that once rinsed you can repeat if required, I have never had to do this and think it is a ploy to get you to use more of the product than needed.

I find that I do need a good conditioning afterwards, but this is the same with any shampoo I use, I am afraid that a lifetime of hair abuse is finally catching up with me!

Once my hair is dried I check my scalp. Now this product states that this starts to work from the first wash, I do think this depends on the condition of the scalp prior to the initial wash.

My scalp was having a good day, shall we say, so yes there was a noted difference from the first wash, my scalp was not only less flaky but considerably less tight and when I sprayed my hair gel on the next day to secure my style, it didn't sting like it does usually.

My hair again was clean, smooth and shiny. Sometimes when I use a cheaper shampoo, even if conditioned there is a noted difference and more breakage to the ends, there was none of this after washing with this one.

This is the only anti dandruff shampoo I use now, not only does it achieve the same results as the dearer branded products but is a considerable amount cheaper.

Another thing to note (as an after thought!), is the fact that I use this on my kids as well, both my kids have dry skin issues, with my daughters scalp getting quite flaky at times, they have never complained of this product being too strong for them or it stinging, although unlike the children based products this will smart like buggary if got into the eyes, so do be aware!

For a 400ml bottle, that last 24 months from opening this will cost you around £1.30, and more often than not these are on offer in Asda.

I bet this is actually made by the same manufacturer as H&S...surely that's the only way they could avoid being sued?
