Advantages: On offer it's exceptional value.

Disadvantages: Might not pay full price for it.

As always I am on the hunt for a bargain, usually in the aisle's of my local Asda. As with shower gels I do tend to like a nice hair conditioner, and usually Asda obliges by having one of there better brands on offer, this particular week the only things on offer were the Alberto Balsam range (hate the stuff worse than useless in my opinion) and the Asda's own range, of which I have never tried.

The product I will now review is " Asda essential care natural extracts, colour care mango and papaya conditioner".

The packaging is simply and not fussy in the slightest. My biggest gripe with some of the conditioners available is the ridiculous bottles they come in, you know half of the money spent on it has gone on the that.

The bottle in this case is clear and a descent enough size, this particular bottle holds 400ml of conditioner.
The lid and most of the writing is in green, complimenting the peach colour of the product name and also the conditioner visible through the bottle.
Finally there is a picture of a mango and a papaya, sliced in half and displaying the impressive looking colourful flesh of the fruits.

On the back of the bottle is an "about product" box, this states -

This product is specially formulated with natural extract of mango and papaya, and vitamin B5 to help maintain colour and shine.

Dual combination conditioner to give your hair a smooth, healthy looking finish.

For best results combine with Asda natural extracts mango and papaya shampoo.

Then there are the other usual pieces of information, how to use (well we now that one!), ingredients, the Asda promise (if not satisfied with the product Asda will fully refund you the cost of the item), and finally shelf life (12 moths from date of opening).

When you use the product, you simply flip up the lid and squeeze some into your hand, I use a rather large blob, I like my hair to be completely saturated in cream.

The smell is pretty strong and sweet, with a lovely hit of mango fruitiness, the scent remains on the hair whilst wet, but due to the other products I use that is soon swamped and disappears.

As I mentioned earlier I put a lot of product on my hair and leave it on for around 10 minutes, a long time you may think, but the longer the better. It's the first thing I do when I get into the shower and the last thing I rinse off before getting out.

The conditioner itself is not very impressive, thickness wise. I tend to rate the effectiveness in ratio to viscosity so that being said I wasn't holding out much hope.

Boy was I wrong. I didn't get the immediate softness hit straight after application like with some of the better branded products, but once rinsed out my hair was soft and de-tangled, the brush had no problems going through my hair, even wet!

On offer this conditioner was being sold as 2 for £1.50, a real bargain considering these usually cost £1.11 for a single bottle, normal price.

Would I recommend, at the offer price yes, it did everything that the higher priced conditioners do, I do however love the scent of some of the branded ones, so depending on what offers Asda are doing at the time, I may buy these again in the future.
