Advantages: cheap, smells lovely, gets hair clean
Disadvantages: left hair dull
I was previously using TIGI Fashionista shampoo which cost about a tenner a bottle, but as I've decided to try to save money, I wanted a cheaper alternative, and at just £1 a bottle this is certainly that!
There are four different varieties in the ASDA Naturals range, each for different hair types and each with a different scent. Originally I was going to get the Japanese Cherry and Orchid variety for 'Extra Shine', merely because it came in a pink bottle! My sister however persuaded me to get this one instead, and I'm glad she did, because when I actually smelled the pink one it had a disgusting chemical scent that reminded me of cough medicine!
The mango and papaya fragrance is formulated for coloured hair, and I do have light brown/blonde hair that I dye dark brown. My hair also gets dried out quite easily and this contains vitamin B5 which they say will help provide moisture to the hair.
The shampoo comes in a clear bottle with a dark green flip-top cap and is otherwise quite plain. There's nothing luxurious about the bottle, then again for that price you shouldn't really expect too much!
Aside from the shampoos bright orange colouring, the first thing you will probably notice is it's luscious scent. It has an absolutely amazing fruity scent - I'd say more papaya than mango, but I'm no expert - and it really reminds me of the summer, which is great in this grey weather!
I find that the shampoo doesn't lather straight away, and takes a little bit of working in, but once it does, it produces a good amount of bubbles. I use a lot of products in my hair and so sometimes need to wash it twice to get rid of the build up, but so far from a couple of weeks of using this shampoo I have only needed to wash my hair once at a time for it to feel clean, which I'm impressed with.
After washing my hair does feel lovely and soft as well as being clean. My hair is prone to frizz and after washing it with this shampoo there was a bit of frizz to it, but not as bad as it has been in the past.
The main downside of this shampoo was that I felt it made my hair look quite dull. This is a product that is supposed to care for your colour and whilst it didn't particularly make the colour look dull, it just made my hair look less vibrant in general. To be honest, for me that is not a huge problem because I use serum on my hair which makes it look shiny anyway, but if you're a wash and go sort of person, or don't use shine enhancing products on your hair, I wouldn't advise using this.
Overall, I quite liked this shampoo, and I would buy it again, but like I say it made my hair look quite dull, which is strange for a product that is supposed to care for the colour of your hair. It does smell lovely though and left my hair lovely and soft, so it gains points for that!
Summary: Not too bad
