Advantages: Cheap and Cheerful
Disadvantages: Very runny
Introduction
I buy relatively expensive shampoo for myself well usually due to the fact that I have very thick hair and I hold the belief however misguided it may be that they tend to do a better job on my hair leaving it shinier and more manageable. I tend to buy stores own branded shampoos for my six year old. Mainly due to the fact that he tends to pour half of it out at every bath time. As a result of this extravagant behaviour I usually buy apple or coconut shampoo from either Asda or Tesco whichever store I choose for my weekly shop. The product that will review here is Asda Family size Apple shampoo.
The Product
This particular shampoo is from the budget range of essential health and household items that are sold by Asda unfortunately I can't remember its exact price however it is around the sixty pence mark for a 750ml bottle which I think is an absolute bargain. You can also purchase the matching conditioner for around the same price too. In addition there are a number of other fragrances in the range if apple is not your desired choice. The shampoo itself is a bright green colour. The smell of delicious apple hits you immediately when the bottle is opened. It actually reminded me of the smell of liqueur apple sours which I have partaken in on a couple of occasions. The liquid itself is quite runny so be careful when tipping it out of the bottle or it will end up all over the place. You don't even have to squeeze it very hard either it just flows.
Application
This product should be used just like any other shampoo simply wet your hair and add a small amount of the product. It does lather up quite nicely so I would suggest that less is definitely more. Massage into the head and scalp and rinse and repeat the process if desired. Follow up with the apple conditioner for best results. I always do this with my son and it leaves his hair shiny and clean and smelling delicious.
The Packaging
The packaging as you would normally associate with a budget range is extremely plain. It is made of quite thick clear plastic with a flip-top lid. The front states that this is Asda essential care apple shampoo in white and green lettering. It also states that it is for normal hair types and that it is suitable for use by all the family. The back of the bottle lists ingredients and states that if you are not completely happy with the product then you can call a number or visit the asda website and they will refund or replace the product.
Advantages
The main advantage of this product is of course its cheapness not to mention its economic benefits. Normal use would probably make this last a good few weeks for the whole family. It smells really fresh and clean very strongly of apples and leaves the hair shiny and manageable and surprisingly tangle free.
Disadvantages
It is a bit runny so make sure the lid is closed before putting it down otherwise you will end up losing the lot. Other than that it is hard to fault the product due to its cheapness and overall performance.
Overall rating and comments
Ideal budget range and recommended for use by all the family 4 stars. Made me think about why I actually spend a fortune on hair care products when you can buy this for next to nothing.
