Advantages: Good for you skin, and chemical free

Disadvantages: Tangles hair and dosent lather very well.

I have started experimenting with different healthier body products, I haven't started on lotions yet, as I love my chemical laden sweet smelling creams, but shower gel and shampoos have been replaced with eco friendly and non chemical products.

About:

Aubrey Organics, is a company I found online, and after many days of comparing this company with others, I have found it to be one of the most natural and with the best list of ingredients (this is after many days trust me of reading up on EVERY one of the list of ingredients, versus others).

They have a very large range of shampoos, and it was hard to figure out which one to buy, but I finally decided to go for the sensitive scalp one "Primrose and Lavender" just because I have heard that your hair and scalp can go into a state of "shock" after being deprived of its usual chemical cocktails of regular shampoos.

First Impressions:

The bottle itself is not very impressive looking, it is a simple white bottle which is recyclable, that has some writing and a picture of a rose on the front.
The cap is the type where you press on one side to lift the other, simple and efficient, it also unscrews, and when I did so the smell was not very pleasant.
It smelt of neither Lavender nor Primrose but rather like bar soap, without a particular scent. The liquid was a brownish gold color, and very runny.
I had expected it to be something like this, as most organic products aren't particularly pleasant looking or smelling, which is why we don't use them, ha! However I was hoping the benefits would outweigh the cons.

Applications:

The next time I was in the shower I tried this shampoo, it instructed me to shake well before use which I did and then put a generous amount in my hand. I have allot of hair so I usually have to use a fair amount of shampoo in order to cover it all.

The first thing I noticed was that it didn't lather very well, I was used to shampoos that worked up a storm and so it was very difficult to get used to not being able to spread it around. This meant that I ended up using allot more of this shampoo then I would have of my regular "Tresemme" one.

When I washed my hair out it was slightly more dry and brittle feeling then usual, and since I had not bought the natural conditioner I didn't use any of my old one, so as not to ruin the natural effect. My hair was a bit tangled after all the scrubbing that I had to do in order to make sure it spread evenly and so was more difficult to brush out then usual. But other then that there was no awful smell that I had been expecting, just a freshly washed squeaky cleanness.

Long term effects:

I did notice that for about one month after starting to use this shampoo, my scalp would not stop itching, even though this was a scalp soothing shampoo, I would be scratching regularly, and my scalp felt dry and tight. My hair also would get greasy much quicker then before. These symptoms were however not permanent, and I now feel much better, and my dandruff is almost vanished, and my scalp no longer itches. My hair is not noticeably different, but I do feel better about the smaller amount of chemicals I am subjecting my skin to.

Conclusion:

I will not buy this shampoo again, because of the smell, but I will try another Aubrey shampoo, and also experiment with other brands, in the hopes of finding one that is skin friendly but that also works up some more lather.
I am giving it three stars, for the natural ingredients, but minus two stars for the smell, and lack of lather.
