Advantages: Really works- abused hair transformed into silky soft deliciousness!
Disadvantages: A bit expensive at £3.50 a bottle, but I think it's worth it.
Despite having a TONNE of hair products all lined up in military formation alongside the bath, I tend to shy away from girly reviews because once I've got past "it does the job" or "it's a bit rubbish really" I don't have a GREAT deal to say on the subject of shampoo, and feel like I have to pad it out with fluff. I'm really much better at writing about ultra-violent computer games, or the Saw films.... but with that said, this was a product that I used, and then actually felt a wave of "I HAVE to review this"- so there we go.
Firstly, a bit of background to my current hair situation. I've got naturally black, currently shoulder-length hair, which I chemically abuse in a rather shameful manner- the most recent wave of which has been bleaching it and dying it bright red. I've probably dye it about every three weeks, so it was only a matter of time before it was going to start complaining. It usually grins and bears it, but the last couple of weeks, I knew I'd gone too far. My tips and fringe are brittle and bushy and dry like straw. However much I brush it, it has knots and split ends, and is generally being a real problem- there's no point having amazing fire-engine-coloured hair if it's going to behave like that. I was wearing hats- even indoors!
Normally I use that L'oreal intense hydrating stuff with honey, which keeps my hair hair-like (and not hay-like)- but this time it wasn't making any difference at all. I tried stay-in conditioners, hair masques, uber-uber moisture-rich products, I tried not washing my hair at all for three days, but it was still brittle and unpleasant. So, panicking a bit, and thinking it was time to pull the clippers out and be done with it, I did a distressed scout of Boots, and the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Treatment for Coloured hair caught my eye (despite the hat blocking my peripheral vision). They had an offer on- two products for £6- so even though they seemed a bit pricey, and I'd never tried anything by Aussie before, I thought it was worth the try- I grabbed the Shampoo in the same Colour protect range, and this.
What they say: "Our unique formula, with Australian Wild Peach extract, takes only three minutes to transform dull dry hair into vibrant luscious yumminess." (but they would say that)
What I say: Completely fantastic product. I don't know what exactly makes it work so incredibly effectively where other conditioners have failed, (is it the peaches?!) but it REALLY did transform my dull dry unhappy hair into smooth and silky luscious yumminess! I used a generous amount while I was in the bath, left it on for three minutes as suggested, (still very much ready to pull out the clippers later on), then blowdried it (which probably wasn't the cleverest move, but I was in a rush!).
My hair was softer than it has been... probably EVER. And shiny. And all strokable. Definitely no tangles or brittle bits or straw. Just big bouncy happy hair.
Although I wouldn't say that it made my actual colour any brighter or more vibrant than it already is, it just overall made my hair look healthier, (and put me in an extremely good mood), and for that reason I'm giving it five stars. I imagine it'd help out anyone with dry hair, but I guess the main reason for having awful condition hair is being a bit peroxide-happy, so that's why it's so particularly suited for dyed hair.
Oh, and it smells wonderful too!
Summary: Sorts out your hair panic asap!
