Advantages: Works well, smells good

Disadvantages: Bottles don't last long

I bought this after reading many complimentary reviews on this product in various beauty articles and then going to the makeupalley site to see if this was really worth it. As it got a 93% score I decided I'd get it. In case it's not clear this Reconstructor is deep conditioner for your hair.

It comes in a white cylindrical tube with the dispenser at the botton. This way the products runs downwards so it is easier to get the last bits in the tube out. Normally you have a flip lid to stop all the product running out but with these bottles there's just a tiny slit in a hole at the bottom and you have to give it a good squeeze to get it out. The claim on the front of the bottle is that 'our unique formula with Australian Balm Mint smoothes rough cuticles and helps restire manageability and adds shine.'

To use simply shampoo and rinse your hair as normal and then apply this instead of your regular conditoner. As the name suggests, in theory it should work its magic in three minutes. However I often leave it for longer and another option is applying the conditioner, wrapping your head in a towel, leaving it overnight and then rinsing in the morning. I think the longer you give it the more time it has to do its work and you're likely to get a better result.

The conditioner comes out a lovely pale peach colour but it isn't very creamy and doesn't go very far in the hair as it does not spread that easily. So I have to use a fair bit per application so I get through these bottles quite quickly. Luckily I only use this once per week. It does smell very nice though which is probably the balm mint but luckily it's not overly minty firstly as I am not a big mint fan and secondly even if I was I don't think I'd want my hair smelling of the stuff. In fact to me it really has a fresh zingy smell which reminds me of what it smells like when you walk into a hair salon.

When you rinse it out and dry it I do find my hair is always softer to the touch and smells nice and fresh. It also looks much better and shines more especially after brushing. I think this is quite an achievement as I do a fair bit of damage to my hair with constant blow-drying and straightening.

This is available in two sizes. The bottle is 250ml and costs about £4.40 though I often see them in a 2 for £6 offer in both Boots and Superdrug so that's when I buy mine. Alternatively if you're not totally sure about buying a whole bottle, then you can try the 20ml sachet which is £0.97.

Summary: A good deep conditioner
