Advantages: great smell, makes hair smoother
Disadvantages: Price, doesn't repair split ends
My hair has always had a life of it's own and requires a lot of styling to get it looking presentable. Unfortunately this means using quite a few heat appliances and anyone who frequently uses hairdryers and straighteners will know that heat = dry, damaged hair!
A few months ago I decided that my hair was particularly bad as it felt like it would break every time that I brushed it and went in search of a product to moisturise my tortured locks.
I was recommended this product by a rather pushy sales assistant in my local chemist who sounded so enthusiastic about Aussie 3 Minute Miracle conditioner that I felt I had to try it. I bought it in a 20ml sachet, simply because it was cheaper and I wasn't totally convinced that it would work.
A 20ml sachet usually costs around 99p from most good chemists. The 250ml bottle is quite expensive and costs £4.49 from Boots at the moment. Doing the sums, however, if you do decide that you like the product it works out much better value to buy one of the bottles as one bottle contains as much conditioner as £12.37 worth of sachets. When you look at it like that a bottle doesn't seem so expensive!
The sachets are relatively small and are really thin so easy to store in a drawer or bathroom cabinet. their small and compact shape also makes them ideal for taking on holiday or if you are going away for a few days. The bottle is quite a bit bigger but both types of packaging share the same plain background with the 'Aussie' logo, a kangaroo on a purple background, on the front.
So what does it claim to do?
*********************
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle states on the packet that it is a deep conditioner for damaged hair and will 'restore manageability and shine'. It also claims to mend split ends and roughened cuticles.
How to use it
**************
Before using this conditioner I simply washed my hair with my normal shampoo. I then massaged in a small amount of the product, making sure that I covered all of the ends of my hair. I didn't use any on the roots as previous experience has taught me that using intensive conditioners on the roots can cause them to get very greasy and that wasn't my aim!
The packet recommends leaving the conditioner on for 1-3 minutes depending on how dry your hair is, but I always leave it for the full three minutes.
I then washed the product off of my hair making sure it was all out. I always use freezing cold water to rinse conditioner off my hair and call me mad but it really makes a difference to how shiny my hair is. I read this little tip in a magazine and if you can stand it I definitely recommend using cold water to rinse off Aussie 3 Minute Miracle!
One of the things that I like best about this product is the smell. The conditioner is light orange in colour and has a gorgeous peach smell that I could recognise a mile off. I'm not always a fan of strong smelling cosmetics but I love the fact that my hair smells lovely even after I've dried it, after using this conditioner.
Does it work?
************
Straight after I rinse this product off my hair I can already feel a difference. When wet, my hair feels soft and sleek and is really easy to comb before drying. After I've dried it it also remains sleeker than normal and definitely feels more moisturised.
If you have really dry hair it takes a few weeks of using this conditioner to feel like your hair has recovered a bit. It doesn't repair split ends, as I can still find all of mine after using the product, but it does make them less noticeable as your hair is generally much smoother.
In truth, don't expect that if you have dry hair this is all you need to be able to rescue it. The only way you can really put moisture back into your hair is to have the ends cut off and stop using so many heated appliances that dry it out. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle can aid your hair's recovery however and my hair always feels better after using it!

- 11/09/09 I love this conditioner, it really is a miracle worker! A sachet will last a couple of washes unless your hair is really long or thick, so economical too! |
