Advantages: Smells Lovely
Disadvantages: Does Not Detangle Properly
Introduction
I have the thickest driest and most tangled hair in the whole wide world. Perhaps a slight exaggeration however it certainly feels like it some days. As such I am a bit of a slave to advertising and end up buying loads of hair care products that tend to end up not only costing me a fortune however leaving me somewhat disappointed by the results. I often wonder why I don't just cut it all off and go for the Annie Lennox look. It would certainly save me a lot of time in faffing around trying to obtain what seems for the most part that ever elusive sleek and frizz free hairdo which looks natural and shiny. One product which goes someway to achieving this result is Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance. I have to admit I had received mixed reviews however when I saw it on special offer in super drug recently I decided that I would give it a go.
The Product
Developed by Aussie this product is a spray on leave in conditioner which will hopefully leave your hair protected and detangled. It is made essentially for those of us who suffer from weak and distressed hair. I tend to suffer from this due to the amount of hair dying, blow-drying and straightening that I do on a daily basis. In addition living in Glasgow with one of the most unpredictable weather systems where there is rain one minute and sun the next probably doesn't help much either!!! The product has a unique formula which is blended with Australian jojoba oil, designed to protect the hair from everyday wear and tear. This item was on promotion and I managed to purchase a 250ml bottle for £1.50 which I thought was extremely reasonable.
The Packaging
As with all of the Aussie range it comes in its recognisable distinctive packaging. The bottle is white in colour and has the Aussie logo and a picture of a kangaroo on the front. It has a spray pump function and a lift off clear plastic cap. The rear labelling gives information on ingredients, how to use the item and a website and postal address. The lettering is in red and it states that this is the Miracle Hair Insurance version of their rather extensive range of products. For more information visit their website at www.aussiehair.com
Application
This product is very straight forward and easy to use. Obviously the instructions on the bottle recommend that you use Aussie shampoo and conditioner first. I have to say I have never done this and still find that the results are good for my hair favouring my usual shampoo brand. After washing and towel drying your hair in the usual way spray the miracle hair insurance evenly all over your locks and at a close distance. Don't forget underneath too. This should protect and detangle your hair. You can then comb through your hair. You don't have to rinse out the product just style it in your usual way.
Other Info
The spray itself is a clear colour thankfully!! It is more of a light spritz when you first begin using it. Application however does tend to take a bit of time to ensure even distribution. I use mine underneath my hair too as this is the area which normally gets the most tangled. The predominant ingredient is jojoba oil however it also contains castor oil amongst many others. (I suppose to give a softening effect). The product has a rather odd but I have to say very pleasant fragrance. It is a little like bubble gum. I know it probably sounds silly however after scouring the other ingredients it doesn't actually list anything noticeably recognisable apart from "parfum" hence I'm afraid bubble gum is the best comparison that I can come up with!!! I have used this several times and I believe that it does have some anti-tangle benefits however on my hair this problem is not eliminated completely. My hair did feel in good condition too so for these reasons I would be happy to recommend it however for people with perhaps medium to thick hair and not just thick hair like mine. I unfortunately however will not be buying this again as there are better products available on the market which suit my particular hair type better.
Advantages
Smells really nice and quite unusual. Does detangle my hair to a degree however only if I use loads and loads otherwise it doesn't have much effect and my hair is still a bit unruly. Not good if you pull a comb through too hard as this can be sore. A lot less expensive than other similar products on the market.
Disadvantages
I have to use a lot for my hair due to it being extremely thick so a 250ml bottle only lasted me a couple of weeks. Better items out there as the detangling effect was limited however this may be unique to my hair type.
Summary: Maybe You Might Need A Different Miracle
