Advantages: Salon quality finish, lovely smell, classy packaging

Disadvantages: The price

After hearing rave reviews from all my friends who are Aussie addicts, I decided to treat myself to a bottle for my holidays. This is something I have been meaning to do for a while but the price (usually £3.49) always put me off. However, when I noticed it for half price (offer now not running, to my knowledge - probably back on at Christmas, check out supermarkets and shops like Boots) I just had to have it.

Packaging

The packing is classically 'Aussie', a tall, cream bottle with the information printed onto it in purple and carmine (a brownish red) writing. Having it printed on the bottle is a nice change from sticky labels, and adds a touch of class. This shampoo claims to be specifically designed 'for hair long enough to swish' and will provide 'silky smoothness'. Personally, I really like the tone of the text - it doesn't make the brand seem too stuffy, more laidback and very Australian! Their philosophy is that "There's more to life than hair, but it's a good place to start!" - I think this is very true and much better than the previous "Put some roo in your doo!". This came from the fact that Aussie use(d) a plant called 'Kangaroo Paw' and its logo is a kangaroo above the brand name.

Smell

Aussie Long Luscious Shampoo has a silky, sweet, smooth smell that is unique to the brand. It is very nice but I have found that it doesn't tend to linger for very long (though this may be because I use it very sparingly).

Product

The container has a lid that requires you to push down on one side which in turn forces the other up to reveal a small hole. When squeezed, the shampoo comes out easily but I think that I will probably need to remove the lid once I get down to near the bottom. The shampoo itself is a light purple, laavander colour with pearly streaks, very nice and expensive looking. It is fairly creamy - not too runny or stodgy - and massages in well.

I tend to only need about the size a large grape to wash my hair well, which is just below my shoulder blades. It foams up nicely and goes a surprisingly long way. When it came to washing it out, it came out well and left my hair feeling very soft and smooth, unlike most shampoos (which make it feel as if you need to condition right away!). This meant that brushing was a pleasure rather than a painful chore.

When I came to dry my hair (after using Aussie Luscious Long Conditioner, see other review), it felt really nourished and, well, luscious. After drying I had noticably less fly aways and my blonde - thank you sun - hair was a lot shinier and vibrant. I was really surprised, I felt like I had just come out of a salon!

Overall, I really feel that Aussie is a very special treat for my hair and a treat which I will be stocking up on every time there's an offer! My hair stays silky soft for the rest of the day (and often longer). A very luscious shampoo

Summary: Stock up whilst on sale!
