Aussie Mega Shampoo

I usually have a good relationship with Aussie hair care products and this is one of the very few exceptions to this though. Although the mega instant conditioner works really well for me, this product doesn't and I will not be buying it again unfortunately.

- About the product

This shampoo comes in the original Aussie packaging with the kangaroos embossed on the bottle and the information about the main ingredient on the front of the bottle. The bottle contains 300ml of product which is a 50ml more than the average bottle and this specific product contains kangaroo paw flower extract as the main ingredient. The bottle states that the shampoo is newly formulated and it now also contains aloe vera. This product claims to: rise clean with no build up, leave hair with vitality, shine and body/bounce.

- Using the product and results

The first thing I noticed about this product is the scent of this product. The scent is really floral and sweet - mostly very sweet and it does smell like cheap, strawberry bubble gum, which I actually like but some people definitely will not like the scent. Secondly, the texture of this product is quite gel like which is what I like in shampoos as it allows the shampoo to glide through the hair really easily. This shampoo lather really quite well and I feel like it clean my hair well without striping my hair making it dry or oily. The application and lather is great and this shampoo washes out of my hair quickly and easily, There is just one main problem with this product, it makes my scalp very flaky and slightly irritated. The day after I use this shampoo my scalp would become very flaky and slightly irritated (itchy) and then when I washed my hair with another shampoo this negative effect would not occur - therefore the shampoo was the cause of this negative effect, in my opinion. I do really like Aussie products on the whole and I have never experienced a reaction like this to any shampoo before but this product just doesn't agree with my hair/scalp. I will not be buying this product again and I don't really recommend it based on my experience with it - although my sister now uses this product and she hasn't had any negative reaction.

- Price and availability

I bought this product a while ago and probably because it was on offer, this brand is usually on offer in Boots as a 3 for £10 deal. This shampoo individually is priced at: £4.49 in Boots (3 for £10) as a 300ml bottle. This product is also available in Superdrug and online chemists for a similar price.

Conclusions

Positives
*Lathers well and rinses out quickly and easily
*Smells nice, to me anyway
*Cheap and Aussie products are usually on offer in Boots/Superdrug

Negatives
*Irritates my scalp
*Causes my scalp to become irritated and very flaky - this effect disappears completely when I stop using this product (the mega instant conditioner does not have this effect on me though)
