Advantages: Lovely smell, reduces flyways, gives volume to limp hair

Disadvantages: Not very easy to comb through when wet

I've recently been losing a lot of hair and as a 30 year old female, have been desperately looking for a product that makes it look like I have more hair than I really do. I've avoided conditioners in the past as I felt they weighed down my already thin and feeble hair. Besides I have hair that goes greasy in 24 hours so I didn't think I needed more conditioning. However, my hair loss has meant I am no longer blasé about clumps of hair in my comb as I try to detangle my hair after a shower. I tried using a little leftover conditioner from ages ago (unidentifiable brand - the label has faded from sitting in the on the bathroom window for god knows how long!) and since it made my hair easier to comb and I lost a few less hairs, I decided to buy a real conditioner.

I'd used Aussie leave in conditioner in the dim and distant past when I had thick hair down to my waist so I was familiar with the brand. When I spotted this volumising conditioner in Asda, I though better the devil-you-know, and picked it up. It cost £3.88, which seemed a bit high to me but then I'm not used to spending money on conditioners! It didn't seem much more expensive than other similar products though I daresay I could have got it cheaper if I'd shopped around.

Anyway, cut to the experiment. The packaging is nothing to write home about but the bottle is sturdy and though I haven't experimented (yet!), it looks like it will survive being dropped on the floor and stepped on by bathers not wearing their glasses. It has a push type cap which I like since it's easier to control the amount of product that comes out. The conditioner is peach in colour and a bit thicker than the previous unidentified conditioner I was using. It also had a much stronger scent. The scent reminded me of bubblegum and I quite liked it. It doesn't last long though and was gone by the time my hair was dry. I comb my hair with a wide toothed comb after applying the conditioner and this wasn't quite as easy as it was with the previous one but it wasn't too bad either. After rinsing my hair felt very smooth and the product rinsed out quite easily.

I prefer to air dry my hair which means I usually have lots of flyways. With this, I still had some but relatively less. Also, my hair did look like it had more volume though nothing excessive. Though it didn't help with shine, my dry hair was soft and smooth and looks quite nice.

So overall, I quite liked this conditioner though it's nothing out of the ordinary. I may not buy it again but I will finish the bottle. Hopefully I'll have some hair left for it to work on by the end!

Summary: A good conditioner but not 'the one'
