Advantages: Came in a cute gift bag
Disadvantages: Made my hair lifeless and scalp dry - yuck!
I received a gift set of the Aussie Real Volume Shampoo and Conditioner plus 3 minute miracle conditioner for Christmas and I was really chuffed - I love trying new products and thought what a great gift - lovely shiny thick hair!!
I had heard great things about the Aussie range so really expected to get on well with the products. It was a surprise then when my first impression was that the smell of the product was pretty horrid. The shampoo is supposedly enriched with Kangaroo Paw flower and can't say as I have ever smelt one of those, but if it smells the same as the shampoo I would steer well clear. The overwhelming impression of the smell is one of quite strong chemicals - not floral at all, and definately not pleasant.
When you bypass the smell, the shampoo does lather nicely and rinses easily away. However, the real test is obviously how your hair feels after the wash. The marketing write up says that the shampoo gives shine and bounce to the most lifeless hair without build up. Well, I didn't get any of these effects and instead felt the opposite - my hair just felt flat afterwards, and not particularly shiny. Even worse, it made my scalp dry and itchy - not what I want from a shampoo at all!
So, no recommendation from me for what is supposedly a cult product - maybe just my hair type it didn't work for, but with all the other lovely hair products on the market, I wouldn't even say it was worth a try.
PS - I know this sounds ungrateful as I received this as a gift, but all is not lost - the shampoo came in really cute red bag which has had lots of use!!
Summary: Not worth the hype - choose a nice smelling alternative instead!
