Aussie Smooth Mate Static Shampoo

Description: Manufacturer: Aussie / Type: Hair Shampoo.

Before I begin this review, I would like to explain a little about my hair type, and why I believe that I need products like this shampoo. I have quite long, highlighted blonde hair. Unfortunately I am not one of those lucky people with gorgeous smooth hair which is manageable and shiny.

Instead, of having the hair that I covet, I have slightly wavy hair which is prone to curling in the slightest drop of rain or humidity. It doesn't fall into perfect curls either, instead just looks frizzy so I have to use products designed for my hair type and straighten it every day to try and keep it looking sleek and straight. I also use GHD hair straighteners to try and limit the damage that this does (along with a heat protection spray).

Because my hair needs a lot of help to make it manageable, I try a lot of different products and while there are some that I return to time after time, I am often to be found trying new things too. I have used a few different things from the Aussie range and while they are not the cheapest range on the market, they are also not the most expensive and some of them are great, leaving my hair smelling amazing and looking fab.

The Aussie shampoos and conditioners can be found for sale in most chemists and supermarkets and retail for around £5.50. You can collect Advantage points if you buy them from Boots too.

The first thing that you will notice when you use this shampoo is the colour, it is blue! The reason for this is because the shampoo contains extracts of Australian Blue Gum which is believed to help control static and keep hair frizz free.

Now for me, one of the best things about the Aussie range is the fragrance which smells like delicious and fruity bubble gum. After using, I can smell the shampoo in my hair right through to the next day and I love it, it really is an amazing fragrance and quite distinctive to the brand so if you haven't tried it before, then you certainly should, even just for the mouth watering smell!

It is recommended by Aussie that you use a corresponding conditioner to give your hair the best chance of benefiting from the products - though I suppose they would say that!

I find that after using this shampoo with a matching conditioner, my hair does feel sleeker and is less prone to frizz. There is definitely less static and my hair seems more manageable and less flyaway. Unfortunately, I like to use a shampoo designed to help me get the most out of my highlights (usually John Frieda lightening shampoo in case you are interested) so I do find that I have to alternate between the two.

In summary, this shampoo does exactly what it promises and smells amazing. I would be tempted to but it for the fragrance alone so it is a definite bonus that my hair feels soft, sleek and less flyaway. 5 respectable Dooyoo stars from me!

Summary: Make your own mind up!
