Great conditioner that touches you when you use it.

I recently had the pleasure of using this conditioner, never before had I used their products so I had no idea what I was in for. I received this conditioner in the hotel I was staying in. Now normally I don't like the shampoo and conditioner that are in hotels as my experience has not been very good with them. I have found that they are usually a lower quality product. So my expectations for the Aveda Rosemary Mint Conditioner were very low. I have to say I was very shocked at the outcome.

I opened the little bottle and held it up to my nose. I wanted to smell what I was putting into my hair as some shampoo's really smell bad and the conditioner that goes with them smells even worse. At first it was very loaded with mint. It seemed that mint was all that I could smell. It was very overpowering to say the least. Even overwhelmed with mint I was still willing to give the conditioner a chance.

When I used the shampoo I noticed a strange tingling on my scalp so I was a little nervous to use the conditioner not sure what that tingling meant. As I massaged the conditioner through my hair paying special attention to the ends I noticed that it did in fact cause my scalp to tingle. The longer I had the conditioner in my hair the better my scalp felt. The mint seemed to be the cause of the tingling and it really made my scalp feel cool and hot all at the same time. I really enjoyed how it made me feel.

I left the conditioner in my hair for a full 60 seconds to get the most conditioning from the product. The longer it was on the better my scalp felt. As I went to rinse the conditioner out of my hair I noticed how soft and smooth my hair felt. As the water flowed over my hair it seemed to take all the tangles and knots out almost as if the water was brushing my hair. It felt as if I had been to a salon and had the full treatment. It was a wonderful experience.

I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my head giving my hair a chance to shed some of the excess water that was still in my hair. When I removed the towel I noticed as I brushed my hair that the brush moved through my hair like a hot knife through butter. No snags or tangles. When I ran my hands over my hair it was smooth and full almost as if there was a protective coating around each strand of my hair.

When I styled my hair I noticed how every hair laid in place with not a strand that was standing up. I was amazed to see my normal do what it pleases fly away hair laying peaceful on my head. It was almost as if a fairy had finally granted me my wish of manageable hair.

What I like the most about this product was that it did not weigh my hair down or make it feel dirty. The mint in this conditioner really does reach out and touch you. The tingle that I felt the first time is the same tingle that I feel every time I use the shampoo and conditioner.

I would recommend this to all of my friends and family and have already done so. This item has become a regular in my house and most of my family's as well. This is a product that I will use again and again. I have ordered all of my Aveda products online so the prices usually vary from one purchase to the next. I usually get them where ever they are cheapest.

This is one of the best conditioners I have ever had the pleasure of using. Thanks to a great hotel for showing me how fun it can be to wash and condition your hair.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not one I'll be using again!

After reviewing Aveda's Rosemary and Mint shampoo a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd review their conditioner too. After all, we usually buy these things in pairs and I thought it might be helpful ;-)

In case you didn't read my review of the shampoo, in summary I was pretty satisfied. Not blown away, but I didn't have any complaints. It was fine.

Sadly I didn't have the same satisfactory experience with the conditioner....

I have chin length, straight hair that needs very little doing to it. I can get away with using most hair products and have absolutely no loyalty to any brand!

When using this product, I washed my hair first with the matching shampoo and then applied a 50p-piece blob of conditioner, working from the ends up to the roots, as I usually do with any other product.

The product is pretty runny, even runnier than the shampoo. It is a pearly white colour and smells strongly of mint with a hint of rosemary in the background. A pretty nice smell, and very similar to the shampoo.

However, when I started working the product through my hair, I didn't really feel like it was doing anything. You know how conditioner usually feels - a bit like a layer of butter, but without the lasting greasiness? Well, this just felt like I was applying water to my hair. With extra water coming out of the shower over me. Confused, I tried applying a bit more. Still nothing.

Oh well, I thought, maybe it's working some kind of magic that isn't really discernable when you're still in the shower. But when I went to dry my hair, it felt as though I hadn't used any conditioner at all - my hair felt all tangly and straw-like. Once dry, it stayed feeling a bit scraggy and haystack-ish. Not great.

I gave the conditioner another couple of goes, but in the end gave it up as a bad job and chucked it away.

On the plus side, I would say that it did reduce static and it smells nice. These are the only positive thing I can think to say about it!

Later I found out that this product is a 'rinse' as oppsed to a 'conditioner'. This started to make more sense, as a rinse is traditionally less intensive than a conditioner. However, I would still have expected it to have more effect than it did.

Luckily, the bottles of conditioner I used were free samples that I'd got from a hotel, but I undestand this usually retails for about £10 a bottle (250ml).

I wouldn't say to anyone that they should avoid this product, as everyone's haircare needs are different, but if you find that you need quite an intensive conditioner then this probably isn't the product for you!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This shampoo and conditioner smell gorgeous and leave hair soft and very shiny. It was very helpful for my scalp psoriasis but I think would be beneficial to anyone with a dry scalp as well as those with fine or normal hair types. It is quite expensive initially made from organic products but a little goes a long way. It costs about £9 each for the 250mls sizes of shampoo and conditioner. It is occasionally on QVC at a better price or if you or any friends are travelling to the United States a litre size of shampoo or conditoner will cost about £15.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

This is Aveda's biggest selling conditioner, and is great for anyone who wants something very quick and easy to use; while still avoiding petrochemicals and harsh ingredients. Rosemary & Mint is a true 'rinse', rather than conditioner, in that it's designed to be rinsed straight out, and offers no long-term conditioning benefits. That is exactly what it does; giving very effective anti-static and detangling benefits and helping to protect hair from subsequent styling and pollution damage. As ever with Aveda, with smells very strongly - a very refreshing herbal scent and not especially minty (I don't like mint smells but I do like this!). The scent does also linger quite well afterwards; and seems especially helpful in stopping hair from smelling too smokey/dirty after a night out. It also contains ingredients which are beneficial to the scalp, so anyone who has irritation/dandruff problems might want to try this out. It's available in sizes from 50ml (for anyone who wants to try it before investing in a bigger size) to 1 litre. The price below is thew 'normal' 250ml size (which isn't a very good buy, I think, the 500 ml size is usually only 3/4 pounds more)

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

If like most people you buy your conditioner based on packaging and smell not to mention cost, then think again, this conditioner has everything for any type hair - thick, fine etc.. It has the most wonderful smell of mint & surprise surprise, rosemary. And unlike other conditioners you will use this till you get to the last drop then i promise you you will go out and purchase some more... Maybe try the trial size first if you are not 100% sure that i am telling you is the truth. Team this up with one of Aveda's shampoos i.e. Shampure, or any of the colour shampoos. You will never see your hair looking so good, my boyfriend has afro hair and since he has been using Shampure and Rosemary & Mint conditioner his hair is sof soft & shiny, even he forks out the £8 per product.
