The product I am reviewing is colour protection shampoo by Avon. Until recently I have never tried any products from Avon and when my sister handed me a book I thought I would order a few things to see what they were like. This shampoo was on offer along with the conditioner so I thought I would give both of the products a try. This particular shampoo is specifically for colour treated hair and claims to be formulated with Colour Shield technology to help, nourish, protect and extend the life of your hair colour. I always use shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair as I find that my hair can sometimes become dull. The shampoo comes in a silver bottle and on the front it states that this is shampoo for colour-treated hair. On the back of the bottle is some information in a number of different foreign languages and if you peel the label on the back open you will find a list of ingredients and direction for using the product. The English information is inside the label which simply peels back and sticks down again once you have read it. The bottle is tall and slim and is much smaller than other shampoo products I have purchased in the past. The bottle has a flip lid which I imagine is easy to open even with wet hands. I purchased a 250ml bottle of this shampoo for £1.60; how-ever the full price of the shampoo is normally £2.80. You can get this direct from the Avon website or from an Avon catalogue if you receive one on a regular basis.
Using the Product

I wet my hair under the shower as normal and then flipped the lid back ready to dispense the shampoo. As the bottle is quite slim and thin it was easy to hold in one hand and even though my hands were wet it didn't slip put my hands. I squeezed the bottle to dispense some of the shampoo into my hand. The shampoo was runny and was white in colour. There was a nice smell to the shampoo which wasn't really floral or sweet but it was a pleasant fragrance and I actually really liked the smell of it. As I rubbed the shampoo into my hair it created a nice rich lather which felt as though my hair was getting a really good clean. I could also smell the product more as it created a rich lather. I then rinsed the shampoo out, applied conditioner and then gave my hair a final rinse before wrapping it in a towel and heading to the bedroom ready to dry it. I used a wide toothed comb to comb my hair when it was wet and the comb slid through my hair easily without getting caught up in any knots or tangles. I was impressed by this as some shampoo's can leave my hair a little knotty after washing it. I styled my hair as normal and got ready to blow dry it. On this occasion I didn't apply any products to my hair such as mousse of leave in conditioner as I wanted to see the results from the shampoo after blow drying my hair. As I blow dried my hair I couldn't really smell the scent of the product anymore which I was disappointed by as I loved the smell. By the time I had dried my hair there was no smell of the product in my hair at all. My hair how-ever felt extremely soft and in brilliant condition. My hair not only felt soft but looked great as well. My hair is a very light blonde colour and whilst the shampoo didn't really make my hair look much brighter it didn't make it look dull either which was good. In terms of keeping my hair looking more vibrant for longer, I don't really agree with this as a previous shampoo I was using made my hair look brighter and more vibrant for a longer time than this did.

In terms of the results of the shampoo, it's a brilliant shampoo and makes your hair feel really clean and also feel really soft; how-ever it doesn't keep your coloured hair looking better for longer, especially when comparing it to other coloured shampoos. I was disappointed by this as I was so impressed at the way the shampoo made my hair feel after blow drying it. In terms of value I can't really complain as I purchased the shampoo and the colour conditioner when it was on offer. I wouldn't purchase this product again as I prefer to use something that I know will keep my coloured hair looking better for longer. I can only recommend this product as a shampoo and not for the treatment of coloured hair. I will probably use the rest of the shampoo and the conditioner that I have got left but I'll be going back to my old brand.
