Advantages: Effective and gentle on my hair, comfortable to hold

Disadvantages: Not for particularly thick or wiry hair I wouldn't have thought

I have recently started going to an Aquarobics class once a week, my health makes exercise difficult but I have found this weight supporting water aerobics is kind to my joints and doesn't cause me to get out of puff and risk an asthma attack! One thing though, I hate swimming pool showers. However nice they try to make them, public swimming baths showers are usually horrible open, sometimes filthy, places and I just won't use them. If it means smelling of chlorine for the 10 minute drive home then so be it and then I'll step into my own beautiful shower stall and cleanse myself properly!

The problem with not showering after Aquarobics is that my hair is a nightmare when wet, frizzing up and generally misbehaving as soon as one spot of water lands on it. This is where my Avon Detangling Comb comes in handy, the widely spaced thick teeth make light work of getting rid of the knots in my wet hair even when it's sticky with chlorine.

I find there is much less hair breakage when using this comb when compared with my usual cushion brush or even other cheaper detangling combs. After combing the tangles from my hair I find there are very few hairs entangled into the comb itself which proves to me that it's a much more gentle on my hair than dragging a bristly brush through it.

It's effective too, I find it easy to tease out even the most stubborn tangles using this comb and it leaves my hair looking nice and tidy until I can get home to wash the swimming pool water out of it.

The comb is comfortable to hold in either hand, the design has changed somewhat since Dooyoo added the picture above. It's now a shiny red colour and the handle is thicker which allows it to fit your hand better, despite the shine on the comb it doesn't slip and slide around even when my hands and hair are wet. It appears to be very well made, of one solid piece so there is very little to go wrong with the comb and I anticipate keeping mine for a long time. Obviously if you have very thick or curly hair then you'll need something a little more specialised and a problem I could foresee for you is that the teeth may snap off as although they're thick I doubt they'd cope with too much abuse.

The comb suits my shorter than shoulder length, vaguely wavy hair perfectly. It doesn't snag or drag my hair at all, I have also used the comb on my granddaughters' fine waist length hair (which as of yesterday is a bob, much to my horror!) and again the comb was kind on her hair and easily sorted out the tangles after she'd washed and conditioned it.

You buy this comb from the Avon book or online at www.avonshop.co.uk It costs £3.25 which is a very good price for such an excellent comb, I have bought less effective ones for more money at the hairdressers before so I'm really glad I happened upon this while browsing the Avon brochure.

Summary: A great detangling comb, at a more reasonable price than salon alternatives.

Fab revoew here. Ive got a Body Shop detangling comb as its perfect for my lack of hair lol but ensures a good spread if using leave in conditioner. Mine is very similar to the one pictured here on Dooyoo. I wonder if Avon have licensed it from the Body Shop: price was similar too!
