Advantages: Great value

Disadvantages: None for me

Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I work part time as an Avon representative, when my poor health allows. This means that I have great access to any new products and ranges that are available from Avon, as well as having access to many of the brilliant offers that are regularly provided by Avon.

One of the ranges available from Avon nowadays is the 'Advance Techniques' range - which is aimed at hair care and hair products and includes everything from conditioners and shampoos to styling products - is one of the Avon ranges that seem to have an offer on most often. Quite often I find that the products are half price, which is a really good bargain.

One such recent offer was an 'any three products for £5' kind of deal within the range which I thought offered fantastic value, especially when you consider that some of the products within this range cost around the £4 -£5 mark alone.

Deciding to take advantage of this offer, I scanned the pages and made my selection. One of the items I decided to order was the Advance Techniques 'Detangling Comb'. Noting that the usual price for this product was £3.25, I was happy with the saving I was making on this occasion.

I will point out for the purpose of this review that the comb shown in the picture at the top of the Dooyoo page is slightly different to the one that I received in my recent order. This is because the Advance Techniques range has been given a bit of a face-lift recently, and all of the hair brushes and combs within the range are no longer black in colour, but are red.

So, when my (red) comb arrived from Avon, I was keen to give it a trial. I will point out that I have quite long hair - it is beyond shoulder length at the moment - and because of this I like to make sure it is well conditioned. I will always apply a conditioner after shampooing my hair and at least once a week I like to use a more 'deep conditioning' treatment. This is where my comb comes in!

I do find that by combing the conditioning treatment through my hair rather than slapping it on all over by hand really makes quite a difference to the end result. I have MUCH fewer tangles when my hair is dried and I do find that it looks sleeker in general.

Keen to try out my new comb shortly after its arrival from Avon, I decided to use my deep-conditioning treatment after shampooing my hair. I found that the comb allowed the conditioner to be smoothed easily through the length of my hair (which is quite thick) and it easily removed the tangles in my hair whilst I was doing so.

I used to use my old plastic comb for this purpose but I did find that the Avon comb gave a much better result - probably due to the fact that the bristles are quite thick, and widely spaced apart... A very good and clever design!

I do find that my long hair has problems with attracting static at times, and this is improved when I comb my hair rather than brush it. I have found that using this comb helps this problem more than if I were to use a brush. I now use my Avon comb every morning rather than my old brush and I do find that the static in my hair has been improved slightly by doing so.

I regularly have my hair in plaits, and have found in the past that when I loosen the plaits out of my hair, it can be very tangled and there are usually one or two knots in there too. My Avon comb removes these tangles and knots MUCH easier than my hair brush, and with much less pain involved!

Overall, for the reasons I have given above, I have come to the conclusion that this little comb makes life easier for me. I can only award it top marks and would recommend it for little girls with long hair too - believe me when I say that tangled hair is very painful when brushed!!!!

I plan to take the comb away on holiday with me later in the month as I believe it will prove to be a handy addition to my beach bag, and will allow me -after being in the swimming pool or sea - to comb my wet hair easily and more efficiently that with my old style comb or hair brush.

The Advance Techniques detangling comb can be ordered in the usual way from your Avon representative, where the normal price is £3.25. Alternatively, you can order the item online from www.avonshop.co.uk.

Summary: A great addition to your hair care accessories!
