Advantages: No tangles or pulled out balls of hair

Disadvantages: none

I have been the proud owner of an Avon De Tangling comb (as pictured) for several years now- this is not a new product and is one they feature in every Avon brochure I have seen including the recent Avon brochures that have started to appear at work.

Although Avon prices can vary from campaign to campaign, I bought mine for £1.99 and I saw them recently still on sale for the same price. For this you get one sturdy plastic comb with wide bristles. It is different to a normal comb as the bristles/ comb prongs are thicker than a normal day to day comb and are spaced further apart.

You are supposed to use this when you have just washed your hair- I normally lightly towel dry my hair then use this comb to brush my hair and restore my centre parting that has become all messed up from my hair being washed. I have had no problems with this comb- it is basically brilliant as the bristles are just the right space apart so they do comb through your hair and you can create partings in your hair with this when it is wet. If the bristles were too wide (as I found with a very cheap hair care set I once bought, this would not do much as you would still have tangles when you used a normal comb or brush on your hair after de-tangling it). So full marks for the Avon de-tangling comb.

I have jaw length hair which means tehcnically there is less hair length to get tangled- wrong- when I have gone on holiday and not taken this comb, and just taken a normal comb or brush to save on packing, I have had all sorts of tagled hair issues and lost small balls of hair by being impatient with knots!. Also, I used to have very long hair and find these combs are indispensible. They stop you tearing balls of your hair out when you have washed your hair as they basically stop the knots being created in your hair from over eager combing with too small of a comb when your hair is at its most fragile (when it is wet).

I find if you comb your hair BEFORE going into the shower then shampoo and condition as normal then the comb goes through your hair like a hot knife through butter when you come out. I would recommend this comb to anyone. It is so cheap and it is sturdy enough to last the distance as I have had numerous normal brushes or combs that after about six months the bristles start to snap off- this this comb mine still has all its bristles after a great deal of use.

The only thing I find with this is if you forget to clean it after use or quite regularly, you will end up with flakes in your hair- so you need to remember to wash your combs as otherwise if you have not quite rinsed all your conditioner out and then use this comb the comb will collect the residue and it will dry and then go back into your hair (just not a good look).

Overall, for £1.99 this is a sturdy comb that you should use BEFORE you try to brish or style your hair after you have washed it. You will still need to use your normal brush afterwards but this comb gets rid of the knots and tangles and will save you a lot of hair and ouches in the long term.

Summary: Brilliant product, long lasting and indispensible
