Advantages: Works fantastic on wet hair

Disadvantages: Doesnt work so well on dry hair

With the summer months coming I am trying everything to keep my hair looking lovely and shiny. A serum or a straightening cream is a must for me. Although straightening creams provide a good blow drying base, serums finish off and smooth a style. After looking through a recent Avon brochure I noticed that the advanced techniques dry ends serum was on offer at £2.40 for a 30ml bottle. I decided at this price I might aswell give it a go.

The description:

One of the most disappointing things about Avon products is that there is barely any information of usage. The bottle basically tells you what the item is and also advises that you can use it on wet and dry hair by applying a few drops. Obviously this will vary depending on the length of the hair. The packaging also advises that the serum will dramatically smooth and nourish dry/damaged hair. It also contains UV- filters for sun protection. The serum comes in a clear glass bottle with some varied information in black or green. The bottle comes in a stylish looking white box.

The serum:

I decided to apply the serum firstly to wet hair. After washing I towel dried and rubbed a few drops of serum into the ends of my hair. I noticed that the serum had a mild coconut smell coming through. The serum was quite thin and appeared very greasy on my hands even after I had wiped them. After I was sure my hair was coated I began drying. I did notice that my hair was drying very smooth and shiny. The serum provided an excellent result before straightening too. The straighteners glided through easily and the end result looked sealed and very healthy.

I then decided to use the serum on dry hair. After blow drying my hair and straightening it I finished off my look with some serum. I used a few drops as I did on wet hair, but this time my hair appeared a little flat. After a few hours my blow dry was practically stuck to my head. It appeared that the serum was too heavy for my fine hair type. I assume that using on wet hair dilutes the serum a little meaning it isn't to heavy and creates a lovely look.

I would definitely use this serum again on wet hair as it does make a huge difference on split ends, even the rest of the healthy hair looks nourished and shiny. I think I will be sticking to wet hair from now on as I didn't like the dry results that much at all.

The good thing about Avon is that there are a lot of offers each campaign and you are able to stock up on products when the offers are available. If you don't manage to grab this serum on offer it will cost around £4.80.

Overall:

On wet hair I am very impressed with this serum but on my fine hair using it dry is no good. I do believe that on thicker hair, the serum would work just as good on dry hair. Although before use the serum is greasy, the after effects don't show this at all.

Summary: I really do like this serum, it gives a lovely healthy look to hair
