I have had frizzy hair since I was about 10. Me and my eldest sister definitely have our Dads hair - thick, frizzy and unruly whilst our other sister got my mums hair! I hate my frizzy hair and would do anything to have hair that you can literally wash and leave to dry without being ashamed of what you look like!
I had seen this range in the Avon catalogues for a while but I hadnt bought any because I had a huge back stock of shampoos and as money was tight I really didnt want to waste any money on things that werent essential. However, a while ago I was browsing ebay and I found a pack where you could buy this frizz control with lotus shield shampoo, conditioner and the leave in product, it was late one Sunday evening and I was the only bidder so I managed to get the lot for less than £5 including postage which was a good saving as usually you can expect to pay £2-£3 for 250ml of the shampoo and conditioner and then a further £5 for the leave in treatment.
The bottles look exactly the same as shown above and I do like the design as it looks quite modern and simple but I would like a small clear line so you can see how much of the product is left. The bottles have a flip cap which is easy to use even when you have wet and soapy hands in the shower.
I use the shampoo and conditioner together for around 50% of the time and the rest of the time I just use the shampoo.
To use the shampoo I simply use a blob of shampoo around the size of a 50p piece and massage it through wet hair and then rinse out. When using this I feel like my hair is getting a really good clean and there isnt really a scent to the product instead it just has a fresh and clean smell, almost like baby powder. It foams up really easily but it also washes out easily.
The conditioner is quite thick and easy to apply. As soon as I rinse my hair I notice it feels softer than before.
When my hair is still wet I notice that if I have used the conditioner the comb glides through it with ease. Even if I havent used the conditioner I immediately notice that my hair looks smoother and there are much less frizzy bits than there usually are!
Once my hair dries it does definitely have less frizz than usual. I find that it looks much more manageable and shiny than if I use a regular shampoo and if I use the conditioner it feels soft and the tips look much healthier than if I havent conditioned my hair. Its not a wonder product I do still have frizzy hair but it is much better than it usually is. I can leave my hair to dry and go out without being embarrassed about my hair though I do still prefer to straighten it aswell which gets rid of the remaining frizz.
After using this shampoo and conditioner my hair feels soft, well nourished and manageable. It keeps my hair clean for a good amount of time and I never notice that I need to wash my hair again quicker than I do with other shampoos. It does help to keep frizz under control and the conditioner works well at caring for your hair. I do prefer to use the shampoo and conditioner together but if I only use the shampoo my hair still looks well cared for and is more manageable.
I will definitely buy this shampoo and conditioner. I believe it is good value for money and it does help to tame frizzy hair which is what I wanted. The bottles last a long time and the shampoo and conditioner both work well.
I bought this Advance Techniques frizz control shampoo and conditioner from Avon a while back, but have only recently rediscovered them among all of my other hair and beauty products.
~ Price and availability ~
The shampoo and conditioner normally cost £2.80 each, but are currently half price at just £1.40 each, which I think is fantastic. They are available online at www.avonshop.co.uk or can be ordered through the Avon brochure via your local Avon representative.
~ Packaging ~
The shampoo and conditioner come in grey plastic bottles with 'Avon Advance Techniques frizz control' on the front and a orange and silver circular design, which represents their frizz control lotus shield range.
Each bottle contains 250ml of product.
The shampoo has a flip cap lid which is on top of the bottle, whereas the conditioner has a flip top lid, which the bottle stands on.
The bottles feel very sturdy.
~ Products ~
The shampoo and conditioner smell the same as any other shampoo in the Advance Techniques range. It is a clean, floral scent, which I think is really nice.
Avon claims that that the product, 'Smoothes hair and helps combat frizz.' and 'Helps create soft, frizz free hair and locks in moisture from root to tip.' It is also, 'Formulated with Lotus Shield Technology, to help form a protective lightweight barrier that holds up even in humid weather.'
The shampoo and conditioner are fairly thick in consistency, but not the thickest I have ever used. A little goes a long way with these products and although I have to use a usual amount of the shampoo, a little goes a long way with the conditioner and a small handful will be enough for my long hair.
~ Results ~
I have found that the shampoo and conditioner leave my hair feeling clean and soft and I have found that they make my hair more manageable and easy to untangle.
I do think that the products provide relief from frizziness and my hair appears smoother and calmer after I have washed it, but before I have styled it.
~ Conclusion ~
I would recommend this frizz control shampoo and conditioner. They are both really effective and they are very reasonably priced.
One thing I really hate about my hair is the frizz, when I straighten it it straightens really well but I don't want to have to do this every day and so when I saw that Avon had brought out this product I was quite excited to try it.
As with most Avon products it was on offer due to it being a new release so I got it at £5 a bottle instead of the normal price of £7 a bottle. I wouldn't usually pay this amount for a shampoo and conditioner but knew that if it worked it would be worth the price. Obviously this product is only available from Avon but if you don't have an Avon representative you can buy online although you have to spend over £20 to get it without paying delivery.
The bottles are grey in colour and has an orange symbol on the front with the lotus shield technology symbol. Avon states, "Formulated with Lotus Shield Technology, to help for a protective lightweight barrier that holds up even in humid weather" The shampoo has a flip top lid at the top and the conditioner has a flip top lid at the bottom.
The shampoo and conditioner are both pretty thick in consistency and are a pearly white in colour, I think these both smell nice but can't really explain the smell except it smells clean and slightly fruity.
When using the product I found that the shampoo lathered up really well and felt silky on my hair, the shampoo lathers so well that only a small amount is needed and then it rinses away very easily without leaving residue. The conditioner smoothes easily through the hair and I leave it on for two minutes as directed for full effect, the conditioner is also very easy to wash out and I don't feel it leaves any residue in my hair.
I was disappointed by the results of these products, I found that my hair felt silky after use and the smell remained on my hair well aswell as my hair also being shiny however my hair was harder to brush through than normal, tangled easily and there was no frizz reduction what so ever. As a normal shampoo and conditioner this would be a 3 star for me as detangling my hair is a must for the products I use however as it doesn't do the job it is supposed to be doing I will only give it 2 stars out of 5. This one is not one I will buy again or recommend.
After seeing all the hype over this product on the television adverts and the build up to the product launch in Avon catalogues I was very excited to finally get my hands on it, even though it was just a sample. And I have to say it exceeded all of my expectations. It's a frizz free revolution!
Formulated with Lotus Shield Technology, to help for a protective lightweight barrier that holds up even in humid weather. Lightweight, leave-in serum, instantly helps smooth and tame, then lasts through two washes* 60ml *Consumer Study, 149 people.
The bottle itself is a pump bottle so you can pump out just the amount of product that you need to avoid any waste. It is a bright orange so that you and your beauty table can look good.
I keep smelling this and it is a difficult smell to describe. I would say that it is a subtle floral smell.
The fact that it is so subtle means that when it is in your hair it is not too overpowering and will blend in well with your regular shampoo.
I have to say that I have used many products and it is not very often that you find a product that is so gentle on your hands. Perhaps gentle is not the right word but I find that a lot of products leave your hands feeling sticky or greasy but I massaged this through my hair and just gave my hands a wipe on a towel and it felt as though there had been nothing on my hands what-so-ever.
I would say that this product is of a shampoo like consistency which makes it easy to massage through your hair even if it is long or unmanageable.
WHEN I APPLIED
As you are instructed to apply this product to damp hair I applied straight after I had a morning shower, this enabled me to test the effects of the magic hair potion throughout the rest of the day. I had a small sachet sample which as enough for 1 use so my estimate would be that this is about 2-3 pumps of the actual size product.
I found that the product glided easily through my hair and didn't knot up or become sticky or greasy at all.
I then dried my hair as I would do normally and was surprised that the lotion did not effect how long it would take me to dry my hair as sometimes I find that it takes a bit longer to dry my hair when it has products in. Bonus!
Time for testing..........
Because this product is so light it does not weigh your hair down. In fact my hair looked fuller. This was largely due to the fact that it was frizz-free. And I am extremely pleased to say that my frizz-free head remained that way for 2 whole days despite the drizzles of rain that I had to combat. Amazing!
The original price of this product is £7 for a bottle but at the moment it is on an introductory offer of £5. Even at it's original price this is still cheap compared to some other hair products that are similar to this on the market.
Avon products can be purchased online via their website or from your local Avon representative.
This has to be 1 of my favourite products that Avon has made and I am definitely going to invest in a bottle. I absolutely love it! 10 out of 10.

This product by avon reduces frizz amazingly. it helps keep your hair from frizzing upat even 80% humidity.
For me this product does more than that it keeps the style of my hair aswell. this serum also makes your hair feel smooth and silky for ages.
The serum is so amazing mainly because it lasts after being washed! it lasts for 2 washes before waring off on your hair. so even though you don't get much you don't really need that much.
It's also good for protecting your hair, I noticed a dramatic diference in texture aswell, it seems to make your hair feel and look more young and raidient. All in all this makes it that ounce better !
So, in conclusion I would recommend this to all my friend with frizzy hair, and also to people with 'puffy' hair because it helps keep it under control. Thank You.
This was a life saver for me along with the split end mender. I first bought a sample of this and it was great. I have long thick hair which is naturally curly so you can imagine after a bath i have frizz attack now, i had to use two samples of this but if you have short or thin hair one should be enough because a little goes a long way with this. I then bought the bottle from avon for about £4.00 and you can buy the samples for about £1.00 for a pack of 6 i believe. You only get a small bottle but that's because it lasts long and you dont need to use much.
How to apply: after the bath apply on damp hair about a 10p coin size and rub through your hair gently teasing your hair. then you can blow dry or air dry and let it do is magic.
From the moment I used this i seen a massive difference i had hardly no frizz and after conintued use i had next to no, frizz. my mum also uses this religiously. It makes your hair smooth shiny and it looks so healthy! I would recomend this to anyone that is fed up of frizz you'll never be disapointed.
Another great product from Avon! A real life saver and time saver! Wash your hair as normal and then rub a small amount of Lotus Shield through your hair, dry and style as normal - simple! The great thing about Lotus Shield is that it actually lasts for 2 further shampoos before you need to reapply, so basically you only apply every 3 shampoos. As a frizzy haired person myself I can honestly say that this is the best product for frizz control that I have ever used - and believe me I've tried them all! The fact that you only need a very small - peasized- amount means that its great value too, one bottle will last a long time! So long as you only use a small amount is doesn't leave a greasy feel to your hair like some other frizz control products do, nor does it leave hair looking lank and lifeless. All in all its a great product that I'd happily recommend to all.

Avon say that their new Advance Techniques anti-frizz serum LOTUS SHIELD forms a protective lightweight barrier on hair that is capable of holding up in up to 97% humidity.
The real difference between this and other serums is how Avon claims that the results last through two washes, so this only needs applying every third wash.

The screw cap bottle is bright orange. Not pretty, but it certainly stands out.

The serum is clear and has a lotus fragrance - lovely and fresh - that is hard to distinguish once the product has been applied, apart from the occasional whiff when my hair blows into my face.
My hands aren't left with a greasy film after applying the product, which is a good sign.
To apply; Shake bottle, rub small amount over hands and smooth over the ends and mid lengths of clean, still damp hair.

No washes: I was stunned. This is the first Avon product I've owned that has delivered the same results as promised. My hair is almost 100% frizz free, feels very silky, doesn't look lank or greasy, didn't tangle overnight [I was ill and spent 12 hours in bed tossing and turning] and feels even more lightweight than usual.
Even if the results don't last after my hair has been washed I'll still re-buy LOTUS SHEILD as I've never used a serum that has worked so well on my hair before.
One wash: I couldn't believe it. My hair still remained almost entirely frizz free and silky after being thoroughly washed. My shampoo and conditioner are good, but my hair was still noticeably easier to manage then normal. It still seemed easier to detangle as well.
I usually wash my hair every other day, but have been leaving it for two to three days as I thought the serum would make my hair mega greasy and heavy, so I wanted to see the results. My hair still looked as clean as it did on the day I washed it, every day between it's last wash.
Two washes: The ends of my hair were frizzy after styling - not as much as normal though. By the end of the day there was more frizz.
Three washes: I gave it another day serum-free at first to see if there was any any improvement. My hair looked and felt the same as it did before I started to use LOTUS SHIELD. Verdict? Avon has delivered on their promise.

Avon have always been a hit or miss brand with me and I don't like any of their Advance Techniques range, so I've now been using this product for a month before finishing my review to check for consistency in the results and I'm still very impressed.
I've mentioned this in other haircare reviews; I'm in the process of growing out a disastrous perm, so I'm suffering from more then my regular frizziness - I've got fried hair and look like I've been sticking my finger into electrical sockets. If something is capable of taming the artificial, chemically imposed mess on my head, imagine the results it will give to natural frizz?
When I first read that it will last for up to two washes I thought it'd be heavy and leave a residue that would build up, but so far so good. The only thing I'd caution you with is that the second wash results can vary slightly. It's always given me less frizz then usual, but there is some the majority of the time, whilst other times it can remain frizz free.

£7 for a 60ml bottle.
It's not the cheapest but you only need to use it half as much as other anti-frizz serums, so it's good value.
This is a great new product that really works! Just wash and towel dry your hair as normal and then put on Lotus Shield before styling. I straighten my hair every day but it only takes a little humidity or drizzle for the kinks and flicks to make me look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards.
The first time I dubiously used Lotus Shield I really didn't expect any miracles, but I ended up spending half an hour in a very fine rain shower with no umbrella and didn't end up looking like an eighties throwback.
Lotus Shield isn't expensive either at only £7 a bottle (at full price, it's on sale at the mo), you only need to use a tiny amount or hair appears a little greasy and doesn't seem to dry properly and don't use it every time you wash your hair; Avon state that it lasts for two washes, I think it lasts longer and it is a case of trial and error to get the right amount for your own type of hair.
