Avon Advance Techniques Straight & Sleek Range
Advantages: keeps my hair smooth
Was I glad when my Avon came this time, not only was I waiting for my Liquid Eye Liner, I was waiting for my Advanced Techniques Straight & Sleek Shampoo to rescue me from using that terrible Pantene shampoo that I reviewed earlier in the week.
Having used many straightening shampoo's that are available because I have very tight natural curls, it sometimes proves hard to find a product that is good in every aspect, it may feel nice when you are actually washing your hair, but may not be the required product that gives you ease to manage.
However I have found my Knight in Shining Armour, armed with my Advanced Techniques Straight & Sleek Shampoo, my hair not only feels nice when I wash it but it tames my curls and makes my hair a lot more manageable and gives me the ability to straighten my hair, leaving people who don't know me not having a clue that a curl ever existed, until it rains.
Not comparing it to the packaging of the Pantene product which I slated basically, however the Avon Straight & Sleek range packaging would receive top marks from me. The shampoo comes in a white 250ml bottle with the Advanced Techniques logo on the front, details of the product which is also displayed in a different language to. It has a small Avon logo at the bottom of the bottle. The lid on the shampoo is an Aqua colour and the text on the front of the bottle is colour coded with this. Within all the Advanced Techniques range, the packaging follows the same format however using different colour codes to determine what the products actually are meant for, i.e. Colour Protection, Dry Damaged, Curls. On the reverse of the packaging it simply has a label that states "Smoothing shampoo for straight or wavy hair" This statement is displayed in 9 different languages.
I have quite long blond hair therefore I normally use quite a bit of shampoo, however with thius particular product, it does create a good lather so a blob about the size of a 50p pence, may be a little more is quite adequate. Massaging into my hair, you can feel results as soon as you begin and my hair feels soft. It does not contain a conditioner but it leaves your hair feeling as though you have. I have no feeling of the end of my hair beeing dry like I experienced with that terrible Pantene product.
I don't always condition my hair, its not good to condition it every time I have been told so I use the same kind of conditioner every other time I wash my hair. However this shampoo acts like both anyway, as with my hair being curly, sometimes I struggle to comb it when wet but the Advanced Techniques shampoo give me the ability to just comb it normally, no struggling like with other shampoo's, its great.
One thing I notice with this shampoo is the smell. As with most shampoo I feel you can smell it when you put in the palm of your hand and you can smell it as you massage it into your hair, but sometimes as soon as your hair is dry thats it smell gone. This shampoo you can smell it all through the process and leaves your hair smelling great. I am never good at putting my finger on what things smell like so all I can actually say here is it does smell very nice and a pleasure to wash my hair in.
Straightening my hair is always the problem, with the wrong products it can take twice as long or leave it not how I would want it to look. Using this product when my hair is dry, I just use the straighteners and they glide through my hair and I don't have to make several attempts as the same piece of hair. Takes me around 20 minutes to straighten my hair to perfection using this shampoo.
It adds shine to my hair, my hair isn't dull anyway, but you can tell the difference when I use this product. It leaves my hair smooth and I don't have to worry about my hair kinking unless it rains then all of a sudden my curls appear. It also give me the opportunity to have great manageable hair.
One of the best straightening shampoo's on the market with a lot of other products that compliment it when using the same range. Available from Avon for £2.50 but normally on a Buy one get one free. I wouldn't spend a fortune on the likes of Designer shampoos, as I feel this is quite adequate and somewhat better than a lot of those that you pay a fortune for.
