I have been buying this product for the last few years. I don't tend to use this every day, but I do use it a few times a week and find that it works fine on my Hair. I have thick Hair which is a little frizzy normally also it gets Greasy quickly - don't have much going for me Hair wise do I? I do straighten my Hair every other day which I thought could add to the Frizz, but my Hairdresser says my Hair is in good condition.
This comes in a 30ml bottle and the right price of this is £5.50. This is often on offer and can be picked up for half price at times. Just now checking the current Avon book this is selling for £3.30. This comes in a pump action bottle so it is easy just to get a little amount of this out at a time.
To use this just pump some of this into the Palm of your hand, rub your 2 hands together and the rub this through your Hair. When I say rub it is more just dab this a little and work through the ends as well as on top of the Hair. It is best not to apply this too near to your Scalp as it can make your Hair look a bit Greasy due to the scalp producing Oil anyway, so I just start a little bit below. You can use this on wet or dry Hair (or damp as well). I tend to use this on damp Hair more and I just comb my Hair afterwards and leave to dry naturally normally. Then I straighten my Hair in the morning.
This Serum doesn't seem to be all that sticky and it is a medium thickness. It is easy to work through your hair. There is a nice enough scent from this. It is a light, fresh scent.
So how do I find this works on my Hair? I find that it does alright. I find that my Hair is left soft enough after using this and there is a slight shine to my Hair too. I find that my Hair does look sleek but I can't comment to say if my Hair looks Straighter since I tend to use this before bed and then tie my Hair back. To look at my Hair when I have used this earlier in the day I don't feel that this does offer Straighter Hair in my view but my Hair does have a slight kink to it normally anyway.
A good enough product for me to make my Hair look a bit sleeker.
My hair is thick and prone to being very frizzy so hair serum has become a staple product in my hair care routine. As serum tends to come in relatively small 30ml or 50ml bottles I get through a fair few of them, which is why when I saw the Advance Techniques Straight and Sleek Smoothing Serum on special offer in my mam's Avon brochure I decided it would be worth a try.
In case you're not familiar I should explain that hair serum is a product which you run through the lengths and ends of your hair to smooth down frizz and give a glossy sheen. This particular one features something Avon call 'Hydra-Seal technology' which they say moisturises the hair and leaves it 90% smoother than untreated hair. It is suitable for all hair types.
It's packaged in a silver and green box which I feel is totally unnecessary, as there's no real reason why a product like this should be boxed. Inside the box the serum comes in a heavy glass bottle with silver pump dispenser and instructions printed in fairly small writing on the back.
To use, you simply need to dispense a small amount of serum into the palms of your hands, rub together and then smooth over the hair. You can use on wet, damp or dry hair, but I almost always apply it to dry hair as I tend to wash my hair before bed then style it in the morning when it's dried.
I think the serum has quite a nice consistency. I've tried countless different brands and the main problem I have found with the bad ones is that the consistency is wrong. If a serum is either too thick or too runny, bizzarely the consequence is the same - that it can cause the hair to look greasy. This one sits somewhere comfortably in the middle, so I was quite impressed with that.
The other thing that is noticeable when using this is the smell. It has a lovely light scent to it, which is slightly fruity and quite summery. It's subtle and I don't really notice it much once it's in my hair but it still makes the product nice to use.
I find the product runs smoothly through my hair and smoothes down any frizzy bits whilst leaving a nice sheen on my hair at the same time. I do find I have to use more than I normally would to achieve the results I desire, but despite using a lot per use I never found this product to leave my hair looking greasy.
I remember the first time I used this product I was quite impressed with the results. That was until I looked in the mirror that is. It seemed that after a few hours of use, my hair had become frizzy again, the effects of this serum it seems had vanished into thin air. This was a real disappointment and is definitely the most negative aspect of the product....and it had all been going so well! I find that I had to keep the serum in my bag to go over my hair during the day which was really inconvenient.
Also because I was using more than I normally would, I found that I had got through virtually the entire bottle in just over two weeks which doesn't really make this very good value for money.
A 30ml bottle of this retails at £5 which is about average for a serum I'd say, but being from Avon it is often on special offer and I think I only paid around £2 for it. If you don't have a local Avon rep you can buy online at www.avonshop.co.uk
Overall I found this to be a bit of a let down. It does give a nice finish at first and it has a nice smell it's just a shame that the bottle ran down so quickly and that the results of the product didn't last for longer. I wouldn't buy it again and I wouldn't recommend it, instead I'd suggest trying one of the L'Oreal Elvive serums or the Angel Fish Sleek Fish serum which are around the same price, but give long lasting results.
