Price and Availability :
This, like all other Avon products is made and sold by AVON you can get it directly from their website, or from your local AVON representative. Full price is £2.80 for 250ml or £4.50 for 400ml but the Advance Techniques range is always on special offer so I wouldn't pay full price for it, currently to 400ml is £2.80 and the 250ml is £1.65.
This is also available on ebay for £4.80 for 250ml or £4.49 for 400ml
The packaging matches the rest of the Advance Techniques range, it is a pearly white colour, quite a boring shape, just a slightly curved oval shape. On the front it says 'AVON Advanced Techniques' then in an orange banner 'frizz control' then there is an orange circular logo and underneath that it says 'shampoo for all hair types' nothing particularly exciting to report hear. I do find all of the advanced techniques bottles very sturdy but this sometimes makes it hard to get the last bits of shampoo out of the bottle. The packaging has been changed loads over the years and I think the ciao pictures is an old one.
In Use :
The shampoo has a nice florally fresh scent which is obvious but not overpowering which is nice. It is a thick whiteish creamy liquid, which lathers really well, you don't need to use a lot. I have long hair below my shoulders and blob about the size of a £2 coin. The shampoo rinses off reasonably easily.
I do think this reduces frizz a bit but not as much as I was expecting from an ant frizz shampoo. It made my hair more manageable and left it feeling nice and soft and light but the frizz results were just good not great, not significantly more than some of the other advance techniques shampoos. The scent also doesn't last very long on your hair only about an hour then it's pretty much faded.
Overall I am going to give this product 4 stars as it does do a good job of de-frizzing and leaves my hair feeling soft and light but it's just not good enough to get a 5 star. If the scent lasted longer and the de-frizzing was just a little better I probably would have given it 5.
I unfortunately have a Frizz in my Hair and my Hair is thick too. Although some people say they would love Thick hair I can advise that I don't find it all that great.
I tend to use Shampoo for Greasy Hair as this is my Hair type so to use a product that seems to be for any Hair type (what I mean by this is this can be used for Fine hair, dry hair etc) and it is to help with Frizz.
This comes in a 250ml and 400ml bottle. There is also a matching Conditioner in the range too. The 250ml is £2.80 and the 400ml is £4.50 normally. As with all Avon products they are on special offer now and again and I tend to buy when this is on perhaps a half price offer. I like to get a bargain.
The bottle for this looks alright. Nothing all that special. It is just a simple looking Flip Top bottle.
The consistency of the Shampoo is more a Cream than a Gel. It is a medium thickness so a decent sized blob of this will lather up well. The scent of this is a nice fresh scent. It is quite a strong scent but once your hair has been washed then it is just a light scent that is left behind. I can still smell this easily the next day too.
How does this work? Well I use the matching Conditioner to give the best results. I find that this works well on my hair. It seems to clean it deep down and I don't find that this leaves my Hair any Greasier than using Shampoo especially for my Hair type. I find that my Hair does look smoother and I find that my Hair straight after using this isn't as Frizzy looking as before. I sometimes use a Hair dryer after Washing my hair or let it to dry naturally, but I tend to use my Straighteners the day after I wash my Hair so I do worry about Frizziness in my Hair.
I will keep using this as it is a good product and I do notice the difference in my Hair after using this.
My hair can be a nightmare. I have very fine hair, but lots of it meaning it appears to be very thick and dry. It also has huge waves in it without being curly at all, and all these elements put together make it very frizzy and hard to control. While browsing the Avon catalogue I came across this shampoo, the matching conditioner and the hair serum all in a £5 offer. I decided I would give them a go as I had read great things about them.
It comes in a 250ml bottle that is just like any other shampoo bottle. The shampoo can be squeezed out easily and the consistency is a little thick and creamy. I found it lathered really well so there was no need to use a huge amount each time, but at the same time it is not too drying or heavy on my hair. It rinsed out of my hair very easily without leaving any residue, and I have to say I have been very impressed with the results. My hair felt soft and really clean without any dryness at all. The scent is really nice too, while not overly strong it does linger in your hair for a little while after washing. It is a floral scent but it not overpowering at all and the added fruity notes keep it sweet which is more to my liking. There is a slickness to my hair while it is still wet and I was worried this would mean my hair was heavy once dry, but actually this feeling disappears.
I like to try and let my hair dry naturally if possible. There was definitely a difference in the texture of my hair and I found it was lighter yet not frizzy. My hair can feel a little stringy and dry before I put any styling products on it, but with this shampoo it actually feels soft and manageable. When it came to straightening I found again there was a huge difference in the ability to style it. While it was not perfect there was a notable difference on the appearance and feel after styling. It did feel a little sleek while it was drying, so I did worry it could leave my roots a little heavy but thankfully that never happened. My hair is normally dry so I often find that shampoos can dry it out further, but this shampoo leaves it feeling moisturised and soft.
I found even from first use of this shampoo my hair was softer, looked healthier, and it was easier to control. As time has gone on using it more frequently the results are just as impressive. My hair has continued to remain soft and healthy and it certainly has made my hair a lot more controllable. Also with this shampoo I find it works for the whole period between washes. It works at keeping my hair looking and feeling great, but most importantly for me it really fights the frizz.
I would highly recommend this shampoo and once my bottle has finished I will be repurchasing. Retail price is £2.80 for the 250ml bottle of shampoo, but as always with Avon it is often on offer so you can get it at a more reasonable price. My experience of this shampoo has been with using the matching conditioner and I am very happy to recommend both. They work well and it feels like a more luxurious shampoo, that for once actually lives up to all of its claims.
