Advantages: detangles, leaves hair soft
Disadvantages: can be expensive when not on offer, thickness of the handle
When my hairbrush decided it was going to snap away from the handle I was in luck as in the latest Avon catalogue I had received the hair brushes were on offer at half price, the paddle brush costing £3.75 instead of the usual £7.50. I thought that this was a bargain so naturally I placed an order.
APPEARANCE OF THE BRUSH
The brush itself consists of a red, metallic, plastic backing with a black cushioned area with black bristles and red tips. I know when you are shopping for a hairbrush its appearance isn't necessarily the most important aspect of the brush but I do think this brush looks very stylish and worth more than the £3.75 paid.
For the purpose of this review I have measured the size of the bristled area and it is approximately 9cm by 13cm. I thought that this was worth a mention as when I originally saw this product in the Avon catalogue I thought that it looked bigger than what it actually is. I have seen some paddle brushes in high street stores that are considerable bigger than this brush but for its purpose on my shoulder length hair it does do the job despite my original disappointment in its size.
On the subject of size, this is not the type of brush I would take with me on a daily basis in my handbag as it would just take up too much room. I personally prefer to pack a smaller hairbrush in my handbag.
USING THE BRUSH
Having used this brush for a couple of months now I have to say that it is a great hair brush apart from only a slight criticism.
The brush itself is very sturdy as the plastic used to make it is quite strong and thick.
The bristles are very versatile and flexible to bend in all directions making them easy to brush through your hair to leave it lovely and soft. Despite the bristles being so flexible and looking fairly flimsy they are surprisingly very well made and placed within the cushioned area nice and comfortably. Even when used on knotted hair the bristles fight through and do not end up pulling masses of hair out like other brushes I've used. I tend to get knotted hair especially when I have had a shower or have been swimming but this brush glides quite easily through these knots.
Know as I mentioned I do have one criticism about this brush. For the size of the brush area itself I do not think that the handle is substantial. It is quite thin and I personally cannot brush my hair properly if I am just holding the handle itself, I need to rest a finger on the back of the brush otherwise it is too heavy.
When it comes to cleaning the hair brush the hairs can be removed from the cushioned area fairly easily by hand. I find that they can all be removed in one, I know a big clump of hair isn't the most attractive sight but it is better than having to take small clumps out of the brush individually.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
Being an Avon product this brush is only available through the Avon catalogue or online. It is priced at £7.50 but is often on promotion.
CONCLUSION
At its higher price of £7.50 I do not think I would buy this product again as I think I could probably get another brush for cheaper but at £3.75 I think it was a good buy and overall is a great quality product.

Summary: A great buy but look out for the offers
