Advantages: A fantastic pair of straighteners that are easy to use, relatively inexpensive and VERY hot!

Disadvantages: None.

These Ceramic Straightening Tongs actually belong to a relative of mine but I use them on a regular basis (at least once a week usually) and have done for the past year or so.

These straighteners are quite sleek to look at and weigh around 722g so are light enough to use everyday for a good 10 or 15 minutes without worrying about your arm beginning to ache or anything like that.

They can currently be purchased from Amazon for £40.00 including a heat resistant mat but they may also be available elsewhere cheaper so remember to shop around (Boots often have deals on items like this such as 1/3 off).

The straighteners are black with gold ceramic plates which are 1 1/2 inches wide and therefore designed for medium to long hair styles. There are three buttons on these straighteners: a power button, temperature up and temperature down.

When the straighteners are turned on the initial heat setting (180 degrees) is displayed on the dial and this can be adjusted down to 130 degrees or up to 230 degrees in increments of 10 degrees simply by pressing the relevant button. The numbers will flash until the straighteners are at the requested temperature and it takes under 15 seconds to heat up to the full 230 degrees.

I have thick, coarse hair with flyaway hairs at the front of my head so I usually spray my hair with a heat protection spray and then set the temperature to 200. I always section off my hair as I find this is a far easier way of ensuring that I have straightened all of my hair. It takes around 10 minutes to straighten my entire head of hair and I have also used this to curl my hair in the past with fantastic results taking around 20 minutes (including copious amounts of hairspray!).

I believe these straighteners are fantastic value for money as they are over half the price of GHD's but seem to do the job just as well and almost as fast. The heat resistant mat is a fantastic idea but my Mum's one has been lost so I am just careful where I set the straighteners down to cool.

There is one problem with this straightner and that is that over time the cord has become damaged. (it swivels to prevent damage but when it has been wound up in the past it's began to damage the lead) This means that from time to time the straighteners will turn off but it's usually just a few seconds but I've noticed the number has disappeared from the dial so I will just press the power button again and then wait for it to heat up.

I am going to rate these 4/5 as they give me fantastically sleek looking, silky smooth, frizz free hair in just 10 minutes and with a minimal amount of product to ensure I don't damage my hair too much.

Summary: A fantastic pair of straightners that I will continue to use.
