I brought this straighteners after my own became faulty and started to smoke! I have very thick, coarse afro hair that resembles something like Macy Gray with her finger in a socket every time it gets wet. I go through quite a palava every time that I wash my hair in order to make it respectable for the outside world. As you may be able to tell from my profile picture, if you ignore the neon pink, my hair is actually very straight and sleek and nothing like my description above! This is all thanks to these beauties! The Babyliss pro 230 are pretty easy to get hold of and I've found loads on the internet as well as in major retailers such as Boot's or Curry's etc. Be very aware of prices though - whilst searching I found prices varying from a hefty and unnecessary £60 right down to £25. I obviously went for the latter.
It is important that I have very hot straighteners as anything less than 220degrees has pretty much no effect. Also, I have used cheaper straighteners previously and is is very painful when the plates are not smooth as not only does it pull your hair our, but it snaps the ends and causes frizz!

Usually for quality I would have always recommended ghd. However, these are an easy contender and far cheaper! They get extremely hot (so watch your ears, fingers and scalp as i have learned!) however, if it is unnecessary for you to use them right up to the 230degrees you can control the temparature on a dial which goes from 1-10. The plates are very smooth and leave you with a very sleek style. Additionally, inside the box you receive a heatproof mat to wrap around them when you're travelling or putting them away hot, and to protect your surfaces when using them. You also receive four nifty sectioning clips.
The cord is salon length, so theres no need to sit right next to the socket, and they have felty material on the outside which slightly protects you from the heat they expel.

All in all i think these are a great buy- they're a good quality product and actually get 10degrees hotter than GHD's, which for me is a great selling point. I don't have any disadvantages to speak of, of course unless you get ripped off by an expensive retailer!

Summary: go buy some!
