Advantages: Straightens better than my GHDs, heats up quickly, good value for money, safety features

Disadvantages: ...have yet to find any. Perhaps it could be even quicker heating up..?

BaByliss 2085U Pro 230 straighteners- You are absolutely Fantastic.

This product defies the general assumption that forking out that little bit of extra money for a pair of professional, up-market and highly advertised product such as GHDs is a good idea in the long run. After my friend bought some GHDs and came back with such a glowing report on how beautifully it worked magic on her hair I was convinced I should ditch my old metal plates and splash out on a pair.

I was incredibly impressed at first- they heated up well and straightened my hair well. This was until my sister's 16th birthday swung around and she received the Babyliss 2085U straightners for almost half the price.
I tried them just to compare and found that they were just as good if not better than my own GHDs- I was very annoyed about the extra 70-odd quid I'd paid for my choice and was very tempted to give them back and change them for the Babyliss model.

Commendable features to mention on the bablyiss straighters are:
-The model reaches the whopping 230 degree temp fast (perhaps not quite as fast as GHDs but still impressive)
-The heating mat is especially good for younger children/teenagers or even adults like me (!) who might go out and accidentally leave the straighteners turned on because the mat will just absorb the heat preventing any risk of the carpet catching on fire.
-There are 4 useful hair-clips included which are very useful for sectioning when you're trying to navigate your way round a huge forest of hair like mine!
-nice long cord for those of you who always seem to have a million other things between the socket and the mirror.
-fairly light-weight and easy to hold. (I have used friends' straighteners before which have felt like I'm holding a brick).

More importantly, I found that the most impressive difference was that these straighters actually seemed to straighten my hair BETTER than my GHDs. I didn't quite pick up on this at first because I didn't notice it until I actually reflected on how my hair felt. I'm not sure if it was because of the design or the way the heat transferred but I found GHDs often straightend but left my hair a little dry and weak and I'd always need to add products afterwards. These straightners manage to straighten and seemingly protect your hair at the same time.

I also think this model fits a wider range of different hair types. My hair is relaxed (from an afro-straight) yet it straightens it well when it's really curly and just slightly curly. Obviously, sometimes it takes a little longer if the hairs ultra frizzy.

All in all, well worthit! A great buy! and even better (and cheaper) than your average GHDs!!
