As the owner of the biggest naturally bouffant hair the world has ever known, I've always worshipped at the altar of GHD. My last pair lasted for quite few years, but when they finally died, cause of death: overwork, I really couldn't justify spending £100 on a new pair. I did a lot of research into finding a pair that would be more friendly on my purse and the Babyliss Pro 230 were the pair I eventually chose.

The main attraction for me was the maximum heat available. They reach 230 degrees in a matter of seconds. The temperature is variable, so if you prefer not to use you the straighteners at the maximum heat, you can. They also come with a heating mat, this is ideal for me as I have a nasty habit of leaving them on after I've finished using them. The mat is also great for laying the straighteners on during use. As they get so hot, burning surfaces is very possible otherwise. Another big plus point is the salon length cord. Great if like me, your plug socket is a fair distance from your hairdressing chair.

I was really impressed by just how straight they managed to get my hair. It's very thick and has a tendency to be very frizzy, but it just takes one going over with the Babyliss 230 to make it poker straight. I actually think they work better than the GHDs I previously used, they seemed to leave my hair very dry and with a tendency to break, but these leave it silky smooth.

I've been very happy with these straighteners and I would recommend them to anybody. When I bought them from Boots, they were on special offer at £30, reduced from £45
