Advantages: Great designs for the hair
Disadvantages: Difficult to master and needs practice
Mr. Beckham.............Noted for his ludicrous fashion disasters, which seem to give him more media moments that his footballing skills. A few months ago, DB decided he would have braids put in his hair, and it was at about this time I bought a Babyliss Crazy Braid for my daughter. After our disaster with the Babyliss Crazy Wrap, I must admit I was a bit loathe to buy any more gadgets for my daughter's hair. However, she had wanted a braider for ages and while we were on holiday we found these, selling on Ilfracombe market for only £3.99. As opposed to the normal price of £24.75 in Argos, we figured we hadn?t anything to lose by trying it out! For those of you not in the know about hair contraptions, a braider is supposedly an easy way to braid the hair. Braids are formed by twisting and twirling up to four strands of hair around the braider. CONTENTS OF THE KIT ******************* Braiding machine (a tall blue contraption with four pins at the top) Clip on beads Rubber bands Instruction Leaflet There are a few tips on using the braider according to the instructions, but I?m only going to list one here as the rest are pretty obvious even for a complete novice like me. For the best results, use on either long or medium length hair. Well, that was a bit damn obvious, you?re hardly going to try to braid someone with a crew cut. INSTRUCTIONS ************* Before you begin, 2 AA batteries are needed to braid. These have to be located in the battery compartment at the front of the braider. The next thing is to decide how many strands of hair you want to use to braid with. I find it is probably better off starting with two, and then you can progress up to four, once you get the hang of the braider, as it is not an easy contraption to master. The strands of hair now need to be separated, and divided evenly. Comb each strand of hair and place the end of each st
rand under the clip on the twirling pins at the top of the braider. The clips are very easy to operate, just a simple push upwards of the pin from the bottom and the clip will open. Make sure that each strand of hair is at least half an inch through the clip, otherwise the hair will fall out (not of the head, out of the pins!) Press the switch on the braider upwards. The twirling pins then turn round, which causes the individual strands of hair to twist separately. Now this is the bit you need to practice. The braider must be held tightly and the hair kept taut, so that the braids are perfect. Sound simple? Well, it does need a bit of practice, unless you?re a hair dresser! Once you?re satisfied that the twirls are twirly and tight enough, and go right to the top of the strand, press the button downwards, which will cause the head of the braider to twist, thus making each strand twist together, and should form a perfect braid???.I?m going to be honest, it will probably take you a few goes before you get the perfect braid, so if you are intending to buy this for a child, make sure she is a patient one! Once your braid is twirled to perfection, release the clasps on the pins, making sure that you hold onto the end of the braid securely, otherwise it is all going to fall out again! Lastly, secure the braid, either using one of the beads or one of the elastic bands provided. Although these are the type of bands that are not supposed to snag, I am a bit hesitant about putting these in Amber?s hair in case they make her ends split, so I tend to use the beads. Of course, you can just have one braid, or a whole headful. We have now had this for a good few months, and are becoming more and more expert with it. After a few practice sessions, and a patient model, the Braider can soon be mastered, and we have created a whole head full of braids. So my verdict??a great buy, and obviously we got a fantastic deal on this, saving over
£20 on the R.R.P. I do think these type of things are a lot of money for what they do, but this was a bargain. I'm just so glad Mr. Beckham has now decided to get rid of his though although I bet he paid a lot more than £3.99 to have his done!! My daughter loves the braider, and the effects on her hair, the end results are great, so I would recommend it whole-heartedly.
