Advantages: cheap, I guess
Disadvantages: Didn't work well, slow, pulled hairs out
I treated myself to these in July this year, spending £24 at Wilkos for them. I had short hair for many years, but I've been growing it for the last two, and its turned seom smooth and sleek into a complete nightmare - frizzy, easily tangled, and dry .
I decided I definately needed something to help sort my hair out, and these were the ones I chose, for the simple reason they were fairly cheap and I dont have a lot of money.
This is kind of a three-in-one product - it dries, brushes, and straightens tour hair all at once- or at least, thats the idea .
Its a sort of plum colour, with a black cable that plugs in at the mains . The cables a decent length, allowing for good flexibility of movement when using . At the brush end, you'll see a central row of alternating cream straightening plates and black 'teeth' , with a row of purple brush teeth either side of this. At the top of the brush is a twistable knob for adjusting the settings for the tightness of the teeth, andbelow the brush is a button for adjusting the heat settings - hot, medium, and cool. Theres also a small indicator light that glows red when the product is switched on.
So - does it work ? Well - not brilliantly if I'm honest . Never having owned straighteners before, I at first put this down to my own inexperience . I tried it on just washed hair, on damp hair, on damp conditioned hair, and on dry har with a protective spray. It made my hair slightly straighter, but not a whole lot . It also seemed that very often my hair would get caught between the teeth even when wet, and be painfully tugged out .
This is only 700 watts, and I think this may be part of the reason it didn't work well - its just didn't dry the hair fast enough as it straightened . I could go at my hair for ages, and it would still be slightly damp - eventually, I'd just give up and put it in a bobble .
It also may be because I have quite thick, course hair - maybe it works differently for different hair types .
Would I recommend it ? I'm afraid not - even if it HAD worked brilliantly, I don't really enjoy having the hair ripped from my head .
The good news, if any of you DO decide to buy it, is that its available on Amazon for under £17 at the moment . But really, I'd recommend saving your money and investing in a better product .
Summary: waste of time and money
