Advantages: doesnt ruin your hair
Disadvantages: none
i brought me one of these when they first came out about 4 years ago as i like playing around with my hair colour and thought this could be a great way to give myself temperary low lights, i say low lights as my hair is too light for high lights.
I payed £50 for this from argos but would assume it would be a lot cheaper now. i have used this a lot or should i say we have as it is almost impossible to put them in yourself.
In the kit you get a bag to store everything in, some hair clips, some plastic guards to stop you burning your scalf, a set of heating irons, the hair strands and a glue remover.
Each strand of hair has a hard wax substance on the top you use the irons to clamp this to your hair and melt the wax, dont worry it doesnt seem to harm your hair and when you want them out just apply a little of the glue remover and they slide streight out.
You get around 25 strands in different colours with the set but places like clares accessories sell the strands 6 for a £1 so they are not expensive to replace.
This has been a great hair tool allowing me to change the colour of my hair strands whenever i want with out ruining my hair.
You get full instructions with the kit on how to apply the strands and it does warn you not to put more than 6 into you hair at any one time as they do pull on your scalp a bit as they are heavier than your normal hair but no more than a hair bobble does, me always doing as i am told and sticking to the rules have 16 pink and lilac strands in my blonde hair at the moment and will be changing them for 12 electric blue ones for new years eve.
Summary: im still in love with mine even after 4 years

- 02/01/08 I bought this, struggled to get the strands in as per the instructions, had a brief tantrum at the boyfriend who was trying to help, eventually got the four blonde ones in and have never used it since.
I didn't realise you could by replacement strands from Claires, I may have to have a look, but I just don't know if I could be bothered going through all that hassle again! |
