Advantages: Great for people with shorter hair, heat up fast, good price.
Disadvantages: Not so great if you have longer hair, quite time consuming.
I brought the Babyliss Curl & Press a few months ago when they had a 1/3 off sale is boots and this cost me £14.66 if I remember correctly (although I'm sure somebody brought this for me - probably my fiance! Anyway, on with the review!
This product is very simple in design, just a silver/gold barrel which your hair is wound round and a push up and hold button for pressing the plate against your wound hair to create the curl, then a button to release the hair afterwards.
To create curls I washed & blow dried my hair before adding some curling/heat protection serum and rubbing through my entire hair, I think brushed through once dry to ensure I did not have any knots.
I took a section of hair approximately 0.5-1 inch thick and then I lifted up the lever and placed the end of my hair underneath before releasing again (to keep the hair in place) and then proceeded to wind around the barrel, then once all in place I pushed up the large button to press the plates up against my hair.
I held this in place for about 20-25 seconds to ensure the hair was heated enough then I unwound and released the end which was held in place.
I then twisted the curl in the opposite direction to help set it before spraying with hairspray to hold in place that bit longer.
I found that for longer hair (mine is past shoulder length) these were not really the best gadget to use as it was very time consuming an my hair was a bit too long for the barrel.
I would recommend these for people with shorter hair (below shoulder length) and anyone with thinner hair would find these a doddle!
They heat up in about 1 minute which is great if you are in a hurry.
Don't forget to be careful if you place these down when in use and make sure to use some kind of heat protection on your hair to avoid damage where possible.
I would recommend buying these from somewhere like ebay as they are 10 a penny, I guess a lot of ladies with longer hair are trying to sell them off!
Summary: Good product, i would recommend.
