Advantages: Retractable fins, wide range of heat settings

Disadvantages: Quite chunky to use

I purchased these in December when they were on offer on Boots online for half price (therefore only costing £49.99). What made the offer even better was that by adding some 49p cotton wool balls my order came to over £50 so I got an extra £10 worth of advantage card points! I also got free delivery.

They come in a box and then in a padded bag. You also get four black sectioning clips free for styling.

I loved the look of these as soon as I saw them. The deep red glossy colour is fabulous, it makes them stand out from other straighteners and they look very expensive. They come in a bag which is rolled up in a heatproof mat, the same deep red colour as the straighteners. The mat is excellent as the straighteners get extremely hot so you wouldn't want to put them down on your dressing table without them, and the bag also allows you to store them neatly away.

The straighteners have retractable fins to comb hair as you straighten, which is especially useful if like me you have very thick hair. They can be completely retracted, half retracted or completely out. It is recommended that you use the fins for very thick hair. You just slide a switch up or down to retract them or release them again.

The titanium ionic pads give a fantastic smooth finish and there is a choice of heat settings depending on hair type. They have a rapid heat up function (30 seconds) and a very long cable which is fantastic if you don't have a plug point right next to a mirror.

You also have the option of adding water to give a steam shine finish for a sleeker but not as long lasting look - ideal for a glam night out.
