Advantages: They are almost as sleek, shiny and desirable as they make your hair
Disadvantages: It is possible to catch your hair on them.
I have had all sorts of straightners in the past some which were ok, some which the ceramic stuff came off and some which were vauguely useless. I spotted these on TV and they promised to keep my hair straight for twice as long as other brands. Not only that but they were a deep shiny red enamel colour.
I looked them up online faster than you can say "crimpy hairdo" and found them on Amazon reduced from £100 to £40.
After a few days pacing around with frankly wavy hair, they arrived and I was delighted to spot the new features.
They heat all the way up to 230 degrees c in 30 seconds (which must be what the 230 in the name is referring to), they are ionising, so you dont have to go up a mountain to be surrounded by the possitive effects of negative ions, which incidentally makes you feel bright and refreshed (at least up on a mountain you do), eliminates frizz and is the opposite type of ions to the ones your pc gives out. They also have two features never before seen on a straightner (by me at least) one is the "retractable fins" which help detangle hair and the other is a steam facility.
The straightners come with a handy bag - sadly not as red as the irons themselves but which has a handy detachable mat to give a surface to rest them on during, before or after use. The bag also is heatproof and they throw in some sectioning clips for good measure.
Do they work - yes - my hair looks radiant soft shiny and straight, well not at this second because I havent used them today.
Drawbacks - occasionally I get a hair caught on the water resevoir, this could be overcome I suppose by taking it off when not in use or by being more careful. Also I returned a pair because some of the aforementioned shiny red enamel came off. The new pair still look as shiny as ever.
I didnt know this before but the blurb on Amazon says they have a 1hr auto off, which saves you driving miles home to "check the straightners".
The cord is very long - about 3 metres and is swivel - which is excellent as I used to get my old ones in a nasty tangle.
Small update - the red enamel is coming off these too - from the same side - around the heat indicator- have decided to peel it off and live with it as they are still fab!
Summary: Theyve come down in price so I could afford them but now Ive tried them I would have saved up.
