Advantages: It does work

Disadvantages: dries your hair out if used too much

I bought my daughter one of these for her birthday last year and she had some fun with it for a while.
She has really curly hair and like everyone with curls she wanted it straight, heavens knows why but what does a mother know about these things.

You crimp your hair with it and it gives out a shot of steam to straighten it out. It took her about ten minutes to acquire the straight look but it did make her hair go very dry. She added some conditioner gloss the second time and it did improve the effect. I did tell her to read the instructions through first but she had to get straight in there.

I had a bash on my locks then, well I love to play around with new gadgets don’t we all?

It did smooth out my frizzy hair and it looked quite nice, but I wouldn’t use it everyday because it was too much messing about. I prefer to just whip my trusty ten-year-old hair dryer out and give my locks a quick blast for two minutes.
For a night out to change your look then it is handy but used too often I think it would damage your hair and make it very dry and brittle even with the moisturiser gloss.

You can buy one at most leading electrical retailer for £24.99 but I think it is expensive, especially when you might only use it twice and then stick it in a cupboard to gather dust.

You're quite right, I have exceptionally curly hair and just fantasised about having straight hair! My mum bought me one of these Braun devices and it worked well to begin with but after a few months my hair got so dry, didn't help cos curly hair is naturally dry hair. You're best to blow dry hair with a big brush. it leaves mt hair soft and shiny, so much healthier than that steamer thingy.

It hurt too much, I'll stick with the crimpers from Argos at 6-7 quid, a lot easier!

My flatmate bought me one of these a couple of years ago... I swear by it now!
