Advantages: It works!!, It doesnt cost a bomb, doesnt damage hair (well see op.)

Disadvantages: None really

Ive had the Babyliss Straight and Shine now for a few years.

Ive never had any other, so maybe its absolute rubbish in comparison to others - I dont know! But I very much doubt it!

Ive got your traditional "love to hate" hair, it is horrid (or at least I think it is!!). Its quite thick, wavy and generally goes frizzy at the thought of rain or drizzle outside! As for chlorinated swimming pools! - well you dont want to know!

However, when my parents bought me this little gadget for my 15th birthday I was really chuffed!

What it does is quite simple!
You have 2 plates that heat up (they do get very hot too, so be careful on your neck and ears!). You also have this little tank that you can un-clip and fill up with water. Then once the plates have heated up (only takes a minute or so), you can start straigtening your hair. The tank of water allows squirts of water, or rather steam, out onto your hair which, apparantly, gives your hair extra shine and helps protect it. Like I said - ive only ever used this, so I dont know if that makes any difference what so ever!
You simply have to run the plates down your hair from root to tip. That is it! You dont even have to press any buttons or anything to do the suirting steam thing - its all done automatically for you!
After a while the plates do get VERY hot, after all my ear can tell you!! (It sounds impossible, but I can tell you - you're ear lobes get in the way!) :P

Also, after, well with me about 10 minutes, your wrist starts to ache because the "level action" on the plates' handles are quite awkward to hold tight on the hair for any length of time.

The overall effect is quite good. (Apart from at the back, which I can never reach properly!), however when I do have enough time [and patience] this little machine gets my hair straight all over!

Considering you dont need to apply any harmful chemicals, spend a for
tune at the hairdressers, this little machine is well worth the effort (and money!)

It takes me about 20 minutes to get my hair straight all over, however thats when im in a rush!

I doubt this product would work great on really curly hair, although im not sure. It would certainly help.

If you want REALLY straight hair then you could always put some hair spray on, then straighten, then re-spray. However that really would fry your hair!

Talking about frying of hair, if you're going to be using this product a lot, like once a day, then dont forget to keep the conditioners handy - otherwise you will end up with pretty dry and damaged hair.

Having said that I give this product a whopping 9/10!!

Great op and full of information on the product - I have a braun cordless straightner and find it great for my hair which is quite fine!!
If it breaks down (god forbid)I might try this one!!
