Advantages: Quick, convenient, and handy for bad hair days

Disadvantages: Only a quick fix

There are times when I like to complain, nothing like having a good rant every now and again. On one such occasion I was giving off about having greasy hair and it being a hassle to wash it everyday (at the time my hair was quite long). My friend informed me that the solution for in between washes was to sprinkle talc on my head and brush it through my hair. What?? Seriously?! Ok, so I tried it out once when I was having a seriously bad hair day, but the only talc I could find was lavender fragranced, which I had been given in a gift set at Christmas, and smelled so overpowering that I was more self-conscious than ever about my hair! Nevermind the fact that my scalp was white and blotchy where the talc had gathered round the roots. Never again!

Then a few months after that I was flicking through a magazine and noticed Batiste Dry Shampoo, a product designed to refresh hair in between washes. Nice one.

~The Product~

The whole idea behind this shampoo is that it revitalises dull or greasy hair in between washes to leave the hair feeling clean and full of body.

It comes in a 150ml spray can, so the first time I used it I wasn't quite sure what was going to spray out! It was a painless experience though, when sprayed it left a fine whiteish spray over the surface of my hair which I then brushed through to make the whiteness disappear. A much more successful venture than my experiment with lavender talc, that's for sure! That said, the dry shampoo does have a certain floral smell, it's not great but isn't that strong and does die down shortly after spraying.

~Directions For Use~

You should hold the can approx 12" from your hair and spray lightly and evenly over the surface of your hair.

Massage it through your hair with your fingertips and leave for a few moments.

Brush the product out, preferably with a natural bristle brush.

NB: As this is a spray can remember to shake it vigorously before use!

~Other Information~

Batiste Dry Shampoo is made in England by Fine Fragrances & Cosmetics Ltd.

At present it costs £1.99 in Superdrug, or £2.09 in Boots, and is available in 150ml cans.

A tropical version is available, which comes in a yellow can instead of green, and claims to have an exotic fragrance, however I haven't tried this one. The price is the same as the original.

~My Opinion~

Batiste Dry Shampoo is a handy product to have on standby for those bad hair days, especially if you suffer from greasy hair, as I do. By no means does it replace properly washing your hair, but I have found it indispensable on occasion.

It does take the greasy look away from my hair in between washes, however I do need to be careful to brush it through properly as I nearly went out one morning with it looking greyish/white!

It is ideal for camping trips/festivals etc, where normal washing facilities might not be readily available. It is definitely convenient and easy to use.

I recommend this as a quick fix for in between hair washes.

Summary: Handy spray for hair emergencies
