Excellent & good value product (Batiste Dry Shampoo)

I decided to try this for the first time a few weeks ago. I'd been at my friend's house getting ready to go out, and she sprayed it through her hair despite it being freshly washed and it made her hair look full of volume. She recommended it saying it was ideal also for if you don't have time to wash your hair or just for freshening it up. I got it from Bodycare for £1.99 and bought the original one and the Blush one.

***Packaging...

The bottle shapes are just standard £150ml straight bottles with plastic round lids. I'm not that keen on the packaging of the original one. It is a mint green bottle with a darker green lid and Batiste written in quite old-fashioned looking italic lettering. It has little decoration on the front but doesn't look minimalist either. It just looks really dated, I'm not sure if it was around years ago as I've only just seen it, but it looks like an old bottle from the 80s!

The Blush one however is quite nice. It is a bright pink bottle with a mint green lid with 'Batiste Blush' written in cure bubble writing. It has a few pale and darker pink surf-print style flowers in the background, which make it look a bit more lively. This bottle also looks quite old-school but in a nicer way on this bottle that looks a bit more deliberate.

***My Experience...

I decided to do what my friend had done and used it for the first time on freshly washed hair. Before I started straightening my hair I sprayed it on at the roots and puffed it up a bit. It did make it bigger for a minute but it soon flattened down again (I have quite long hair) it also made my hair a bit too clean feeling and it started to go static and I had to calm it down with some hairspray. So I decided to only use it on my hair when it is actually greasy and needs a boost. And for that it does work really well!

I usually spray it on my hair before I straighten it or anything. You have to shake the bottle really well first and then I just spray it on my roots, lifting sections of my hair up sometimes to get to all of my hair. To begin with it sometimes makes my hair look very slightly white and a little bit like I have talc on my hair. But as soon as I brush it through this is completely gone. When you spray it on it does feel completely dry, there is no wetness about it at all. So once I've brushed it through I'm able to start styling my hair as normal straight away. I've been really pleased with how well it works, I tend to wash my hair at night, as I'm not a morning person, and it never quite feels fresh enough the morning after sleeping on it. So this is ideal for the next day to make it feel freshly washed again.

It lifts the hair at the roots and genuinely makes the hair look a lot less greasy. The smell also lasts on my hair for ages after, unlike nice smelling shampoos where the smell usually fades quite quickly. I wouldn't say I notice any negative effects on my hair, however I would say maybe if you have dark hair the powdery-ness of the product my make your hair a bit dull?

Both the original and blush work as well as each other, but I definitely prefer the Blush one as the smell it a lot better. The original one smells kind of soapy and I'm just not that keen on it. I also find it gets on my chest a bit when I spray it. Whereas the Blush one has a much more subtle smell, it isn't actually that flowery but more a nice sweet but musky smell, which I love.

I usually use this a few times a week yet the 2 bottles are still going after 3 weeks, so they do last a while. And for the price it's not costing me a lot at all.

***Overall Opinion...

I think this is a really good product that is very good value. I would recommend it to anyone who's hair quite often needs a boost or gets lank easily (particularly those with long fine hair like mine) It is cheaper than all of its competitors yet does the job as good as professional haircare brands.
