Advantages: Great when you haven't got time to wash your hair

Disadvantages: It does feel like you've stuck your head in a vat of talc

My hair is quite long but is prone to being dry and frizzy and I have therefore never really suffered with greasy hair. There have been times since my baby was born when it has just been impossible to spend the time washing and drying my hair before nipping out to take her for a walk and I decided to try this dry shampoo.

The instructions on the can (which is similar to a hairspray can) are that you should hold the can about 30cm away from the hair and spray lightly and evenly on the hair but paying particular attention to the areas which are greasy or lifeless (i.e. the roots). Once you have sprayed, you should massage the shampoo into the roots to ensure even distribution and then brush through.

After doing this, my hair did feel like it was coated in something and appeared to be a slightly lighter shade than normal (like I had covered it in talc, which is almost what this dry shampoo is). It didn't really feel clean, but it didn't feel as greasy or as desperate for a wash as before I used it. My hair had also regained some of it's bounce and overall looked quite acceptable.

By the next morning, my hair was stuck up all over the place and I couldn't wait to wash it. It certainly isn't something I would use on a regular basis, but it did it's job in allowing me to leave the house when otherwise I wouldn't have been able to.
