Advantages: Does what it says on the tin - and really convenient
Disadvantages: Can make you look like a snowman if you use too much!
Batiste Dry Shampoo comes in three scents - Original (this one), Blush, and Tropical. It's priced around £2 for a 150ml can and is available from a large number of high street stores, including Superdrug - where I purchased my can - and also online. The can itself looks quite retro at first glance, as you can see from the picture, but is easy to spot on the shelves.
I usually wash my hair every day as it has a tendency to get greasy and hang limp and lifeless from my head! This is time-consuming however, and occasionally I have a disaster in the morning when I wake up late and can't wash it - then I feel gross all day, as even if my hair doesn't look greasy, it just doesn't feel right. The product claims to refresh greasy, lifeless hair in-between washes and leave hair clean, full of body, and smelling beautiful. It sounded like it could be a miracle and after having read glowing reviews in various magazines, I thought I would give it a try.
The opportunity came to test the dry shampoo the week after I bought it, when I had one of my little lie-ins and couldn't wash my hair before work. When the outer lid is removed, the spray dispenser looks like the top of a hairspray. I shook it vigorously, held it 30cm from my head and sprayed as per the instructions. I think I may have done too much in one place however as it looked like it had snowed on top of my head! I read the instructions again: Leave the dry shampoo for a few moments, then brush - much better! As I'm fair-haired, the white powder disappeared completely, but I would recommend spraying lightly if you have dark hair as it could turn you grey!
While it definitely wasn't as effective as a good old-fashioned head scrub in the shower, my hair did feel cleaner and refreshed, and I didn't have that uncomfortable feeling. I have used up my original can and bought several more since as I have become a bit addicted now. Batiste Dry Shampoo also proved to be invaluable at a summer festival last year, and also on camping trips when showers may not be as accessible as you would like!
Interesting fact - this product contains rice starch!
Summary: Love this product! It's an essential in my beauty bag
