Advantages: Hair looks cleaner and fresher, makes hair less greasy.

Disadvantages: Just a temporary fix.

If you read my reviews, you are probably aware that I have very greasy hair that needs to be washed everyday. Sometimes I just don't have the time though, and so, when I became aware of the concept of dry shampoo, I had to buy some. I went with Batiste as it seems to be the most popular brand of dry shampoo in the market. There are a number of different formulas, scents and sizes available so you should be able to easily find one that works for you. Dry shampoo is basically meant to absorb excess oil and make greasy hair look and feel relatively fresh and clean between washes.

Packaging
The dry shampoo comes in an aerosol can quite like a hairspray can. The can has shades of blue, green and yellow on it and is quite colourful and eye-catching so you will be able to easily locate it on the store shelf. The cap clicks into place quite securely so carrying this can around is not a problem.

How to use and does it work?
To use you are meant to shake the can vigorously, hold the can about 30cm away from hair, spray into roots and massage through with fingertips so that the white powder "disappears" and is no longer visible in your hair. After that, just brush your hair. I have dark brown hair, but getting the white powder out of my hair isn't very hard and just takes a little bit of massaging and brushing. Make sure you do this though as you don't want to be walking around with white powder in your hair! The scent of the dry shampoo is very fresh and clean, but doesn't really linger on my hair which is fine with me. My hair does start to instantly look less greasy and limp. This effect doesn't last all day and I have to reapply the dry shampoo as my hair starts to look greasy and flat again in a few hours. It doesn't work if your hair is super greasy though, so if you don't plan on washing your hair, start using dry shampoo before your hair becomes very greasy. As it is just a temporary fix, I only tend to use it when I really don't have the time to wash my hair.

Price and availability
This dry shampoo can be bought at most chemists and supermarkets. The 150 ml can retails at around £3, and the 50 ml can retails at £1.50. As I have mentioned before, there are a number of different formulas and scents available for different hair types and different results. Batiste dry shampoos can sometimes be found on offer, and that is when I tend to buy them.

Final Word
This product does work, but only for a few hours, so it is just a temporary fix. If you are out and about you will need to carry the can around for "touch-ups." It won't work on hair that is already very greasy-in that case you will have no other choice but to wash your hair. However, it makes my hair feel a little fresher and cleaner (as long as it wasn't too greasy to begin with) so it is a godsend on days when I can't wash my hair. It is not expensive, and lasts for ages as I use it very rarely and only need a small amount each time. I definitely recommend you keep a can of this around, and I always have one in my bathroom cupboard.

Summary: Great for days when you just can't wash your hair.
