Advantages: Revitalises greasy hair!
Disadvantages: Can leave it feeling a little dry
Batiste dry shampoo is an absolute lifesaver for the age old fine hair greasy roots problem. I have always had to wash my hair every single day, as being so fine the roots get greasy very quickly. However, as we all know, the more we wash it the more oil it produces and when it was getting greasy even before the end of the day I knew I had to find a solution. People told me, don't wash it for a week and it will sort itself out, suggested all kinds of potions to try etc... but the potions failed and as for not washing my hair for a week... I wouldn't have been able to leave the house!
However, one summer as festival season was approaching all the magazines became filled with references to the wonder that is dry shampoo. I had never know such a thing to exist, but I eagerly ran off to my local Boots to find me some of this magical stuff. I wasn't disappointed. I started off using the original Batiste, but when I discovered the tropical version I was soon converted, as with a coconutty smell it's just like holidays, which really cheers you up on those grey British mornings.
It comes in a 150ml can, and looks alot like a hairspray, I guess this is why I had never noticed it sooner in the shops. You simply spray the dry shampoo onto your hair, focussing on the roots if thats where the problem is, give it a little massage in, then brush out, simple as that! It's a quick fix solution but isn't designed to replace washing your hair. However, for me it means I can reduce down to washing it every other day instead now, and it doesn't get greasy half as quickly.
Once you have brushed out the dry shampoo your hair is left revitalised, with more body and no visible grease. However, it sprays on like a white powder, so I imagine if you have dark hair it you should only use a little amount or you might end up looking a little grey!
Although Batiste leaves your hair farrrrr more presentable, I don't think it leaves it FEELING particularly clean. I am always fairly aware of its presence when I run my fingers through my hair. Also, use too much and you risk your hair looking a little dry, and with reduced shine. However, it beats greasy hair!
Overall a fantastic product, great for those days when you haven't got time to wash your hair, or as an extra boost before those unplanned afterwork drinks. At around £2.05 it's a bargain, and the can lasts a fair while! Definitely worth having in case of emergency, but no replacement for a proper wash! Perfect for camping etc though!!
Summary: Great for those occasions when time/facilities wont permit a real hair wash
