Advantages: cheap, smells lovely, leaves hair looking clean

Disadvantages: hair still feels a bit dirty, effects dont last all day

Have you ever had one of those mornings when you wake up late and have 20 minutes to get out the door? I'm an expert at rushing out of the door in the morning but yesterday I reached up and touched my hair and it felt really horrible. I needed to decide very quickly whether I had time for an ultra quick shower which meant having to leave the house with clean but still wet hair or whether to tie my hair back and have it feel horrible all day. Then I remembered the bottle of Batiste dry shampoo lurking in my cupboard and pulled it out to give my hair a quick freshen up.

Batiste tropical dry shampoo is available in a 150ml spray can for less than £2 from places like Boots and Superdrug and is a great invention to help you out on those yucky hair days. To use it you simply spray it onto your hair, massage it through with your fingers and then brush it out after a few minutes. I made the mistake the first time I used it of spraying on far too much and saw what I would look like when I was old and grey and I then spent ages trying to brush it back out again. Less is more with this product so spray it on fairly sparingly for the best results.

I love the way that the spray smells, the intense coconut smell is very summery and stays in your hair for hours. After using the dry shampoo my hair looks lovely and clean but it still feels a bit thick and heavy and greasy. Yesterday I noticed my hair was starting to look a bit nasty again by teatime so the effects don't last a full day. I have tried using a second application of the shampoo when my hair starts to look horrible again but I have found it doesn't really work so well.

The batiste spray is great for those mornings when you just don't have the time to wash your hair but I have used it at other times too; after I have been out in the garden working hard and sweating a quick wash of my face and spray of batiste is enough to make me feel presentable again. I can imagine that it would be really handy to have at a music festival where you have no chance of washing for a weekend.

My bottle of Batiste spray has ended up being really good value for money too, for less than £2 you get around 20 or so applications of dry shampoo for your money. This is a great product to have on standby for those bad hair days.

Summary: A great product to keep in the cupboard.
