Advantages: Easy to use, a little goes a long way and this one has a lovely fragrance to it
Disadvantages: Makes my hair feel too smooth, doesn't give body to my hair
For a long time on here I have read numerous great reviews on Batiste dry shampoo but never, ever tried it. Not being funny but me, well I washed my hair everyday as a smoker and believed nothing was going to replace giving my hair a wash...until recently that is.
However things in life change and now I have M.E and Hypothyroidism and I tire really easily. Most days I sit in front of my laptop in bed tinkering about online and I can struggle to do even smallist of tasks.
So instead of washing my hair daily it now tends to be at the most every other day if not 3 days...unless of course I am going out or something, then I will go to the effort of washing it of course. I do suffer with very greasy roots and am paranoid about them but like I say some days I just don't have the energy to do anything about them but I really don't want to appear scruffy or even feel it.
This is why when I recently was in my local Sainsbury's store and spotted this for £1.99 for a large spray can of it I decided that after reading so many positive reviews about it it was time that I tried it!
The Packaging:
This comes in a white and pink cylinder can with pictures of flowers all over it and on the front of it we are told that it is Batiste Dry Shampoo 'Floral & Flirty Blush' and that it is 'Instant Hair Refresh, Banish Oil & Boost Body' and the size is stated (which in this case is a 200ml size). On the back of the can other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and we are told and shown via basic diagrams how to use it, cautions and ingredients are listed and contact details for the manufacturer are given. This is a nice enough looking can and easy to use via a push button aerosol sprayer to the top of it and pretty girly really.
The Product:
Well this a dry shampoo really in effect and meant to help keep greasy roots at bay and to revive dull, tired and lifeless hair and make it smell better! Its also meant to revitalise hair and make it feel cleaner and isn't meant as a substitute for washing in the long term but is designed to be a quick fix solution for occasional use of course.
Using this is really ever so simple. On my dark hair I do need to use it at arms length or it sprays out like a white powder that is hard to get rid of so I spray it quite a distance from my hair and its fine. This has a lovely slightly floral and not one bit harsh aroma to it of pretty florals which I really do like and I simply massage it into my roots on dry hair with my fingers and spray a little through the length as well. Like I say spray this too close to my hair I get a fine, white talcum powder look which simply isn't attractive so I do need to watch what I am doing an spray it lightly as the product does come out fast.
This sops up grease wonderfully and makes my hair smell really lovely for a good few hours too. However I don't find this to add shine to my hair though it doesn't dull down what I already have to be fair to it and I don't find it particularly bodyfying either. I don't like the artificial silk feel my hair has after I have used this either and have to remember at all times not to touch my hair after using this product and if I am tying my hair up not to use material bands but more rubber ones as the material ones fall out my hair is so soft!
However it sounds like I am going to pan this product and actually I am not. Even though I feel my hair is artificially smooth due to the powder it does also appear it and I appreciate that just for a day or so I can use this and get rid of my greasy roots...great if someone says do you want to go out in a hurry and the likes. Above all I like the strong sweet, floral fragrance this has to it which makes my barnet smell clean and fresh.
This as I stated earlier is by no means as good as washing your hair but if like me hair can be difficult to style when freshly washed or you want a quick fix solution for your greasy roots this could be for you...just ignore the unnaturally smooth feel hair has to it is my best advice to you!
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc in a variety of sizes and fragrances too.
