Bed Head Control Freak Extra Extra Straight
Advantages: Easy to Apply & Works Well.
Disadvantages: Slightly Pricey if Bought in a Salon.
This review is on the Control Freak Hair Straightener liquid foam which is the product I always apply to my hair first - there's no rule which suggests you use them in this order and I think you can use your own discretion really. This comes in a metallic light lime green coloured bottle with the Bed Head logo clearly shown on the front along with the product name and some basic information. On the back of the bottle there is further information on what the product does and also directions for applying it. The bottle itself has a frosted plastic lid which is easy to pull off and reveals a typical aerosol style dispenser underneath it. To dispense the liquid foam it's recommended that you shake the bottle and then press down on the dispenser to allow the foam to collect in the palm of your hand. The liquid foam comes out and quickly foams up in your hand. The foam itself has a lovely professional salon style scent to it which I really like and is white in colour. It also doesn't leave your hands or your hair feeling at all sticky when you have finished applying it which is always a good thing in my opinion!
So onto the application... and thankfully it really isn't rocket science as it seems to be with some hair products these days. It's recommended that you dispense the foam onto your two hands and then evenly throughout damp or towel dried hair for the best results. I would recommend drying your hair off with a towel as there's no point in applying it to soaking wet hair for half of it to drip out instantly. As the foam comes out of the can it foams up and obviously grows in volume as many foams do. I then dispense the foam equally onto my two hands and then gently pat my hands over my hair before pulling my fingers through it to try and ensure even application. I also comb my hair through to help here and remove any knots left in it. After that it recommends that you dry and style your hair as you would normally do and the foam will simply work in connection with this to improve the finished effect. Quite a simple process and it takes only seconds to apply it which means it won't lengthen your hair straightening time significantly... I wouldn't get away with spending more time on my hair!
The Control Freak Hair Straightener liquid foam promises to give you strong definition and texture for your hair as well as giving you smooth and straight hair while removing any frizz at the same time. So what do I think of it? Well I very rarely use the product on its own as I tend to team up the two products together but for the purposes of this review I did use it alone at the weekend. My thoughts were that it was really easy to apply; I simply dispensed it onto my hands and then ran my hands through my hair before combing it through to ensure it had been applied evenly. It left my hair smelling really nice with no signs of hardness or stickiness at all. I then proceeded to dry and straighten my hair as normal and the end result was poker straight hair with very little frizz indeed. This effect lasted right through until the next wash as well and the foam didn't seem to encourage greasiness or anything that. It certainly helped to straighten my hair and maintain it too. I'd give this particular product the full five out of five stars as I'd certainly recommend it and rate it really highly indeed!
The overall impression I got of these were that they work really well together although the Control Freak Hair Straightener definitely seems to be more worth its money than the Control Freak Serum does. so this is the one I'd probably purchase again Used together these products create a really good result, far better than the result would be if I used no products at all. Naturally my hair remains a little frizzy and prone to clinking even when I straighten it and I've found that using products is the only way to avoid this. I would say there are better products out there that I do prefer but I would buy the Control Freak Hair Straightener. It left my hair poker straight and didn't have any negative effects such as increasing grease or anything like that. This product comes in a 250ml size and is priced at £5.30 on Amazon or£7.68 on the Look Fantastic website. I've seen it priced at £10.00 in a local salon so it's certainly worth checking it out online as it does seem you can make quite a considerable saving. So Happy Summer Straightening!
Thanks for reading.
