Advantages: It did help protect from the heat, my hair didn't dry out after using.
Disadvantages: It doesn't smell nice and my hair was still frizzy and was not 'sleek' at all!
I always use a Heat Protection spray before straightening or blow drying my hair as they are supposed to protect your hair from heat damage. To be honest if you are going to straighten your hair at least once a day then I don't think a spray alone will help protect your hair, however it does help.
I decided to give this one a try many months ago as I had a voucher on my advantage card machine to get some points when buying this. I usually use another brand's heat protection spray but thought I might as well give this one a go. I'm not sure if Boots do this anymore, I can't find it on the Boots website, but I paid around £3.99 for this at the time.
The spray is in a 150ml plastic bottle and the colour scheme is the same as all the other Boots Botanics products, a green colour scheme to relfect plants and natural ingredients. The back actually states 'Plant extracts at levels that really work, combined and forumlated for unbeatable product performance. Naturally.'
So this spray is supposed to help protect hair from any damage caused from blow drying or styling, and is actually supposedly forumlated to control frizz and help keep hair sleek and smooth. It contains Green Tea which supposedly helps 'quench' heat!
Before straightening my hair I spray a few sprays around my hair and give it a brush through. I really don't like the smell of this spray, I much prefer the brand I usually use, but this spray seems too chemically for me and I just can't get away with the smell of it. I have however stuck with it and used the whole bottle, which has lasted me over 6 months.
So I then get to work with my straighteners, it doesn't make the straightener's 'sizzle' too much as I run them through my hair, which is good.
After I've finished straightening my hair to be honest I'm disappointed with the results. It states that it helps control frizz and keep hair sleek, but it really hasn't! My hair is just as frizzy as it usually is and it hasn't made any difference whatsoever. The smell of this spray isn't really all that nice, thankfully I can't really smell it on my hair.
My hair isn't too dried out though so I suppose it does help protect my hair from the heat, but as far as helping frizz and making my hair sleek goes I fail to see any of these promised results.
As I said earlier I'm not sure if Boots still make this product, if not then it's probably a good thing as it's a bit of a waste for £4, and my usual spray whilst being about £5 is much better so I think I'll stick to that. This spray did last me at least 6 months but I'm glad it's finished now as it really doesn't deliver.
Summary: There are much better heat protection sprays on the market than this one.
