Advantages: lovely coconut fragrance, intensely moisturising

Disadvantages: none

I'm currently using the Boots Ingredients Coconut and Almond range of hair care products. I'm not brand loyal when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value.

The Boots Coconut and Almond Intensive Hair Mask costs just £1.99, and it comes in a 350ml tub. The hair mask is much thicker in consistency that the regular coconut and almond conditioner, however it's not as thick as a lot of hair masks that I've used, it's a kind of pearlescent opaque white in colour. It states that it's for normal to dry hair, my hair is probably normal and maybe just a little on the dry side so this seems perfect for me.

This is formulated with extracts of coconut and almond, and you can definitely smell the coconut in this. It's quite an intense coconut smell, both in the tub and when you are using it in the shower, I also find that the coconut fragrance lingers in my hair for the rest of the day as well. The lingering coconut fragrance isn't too overpowering in my hair, but it's just subtle enough to be noticeable if I've wafted my hair. The fragrance of this conditioner reminds me of summer, sun tan lotion and summer holidays, it's quite a sweet fragrance, but it's not too sickly sweet. I can't smell the almond in this at all, the coconut is literally the only thing that I can smell.

As with most hair masks the directions for use are simple; smooth intensive mask through hair after shampooing, for best results, leave for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. I do use this along with the matching coconut and almond shampoo, and I'm alternating this hair mask and the regular coconut and almond conditioner as I always get through two bottles of conditioner to every one bottle of shampoo. I always leave this in for much more that the stated 5 minutes as I always choose to use the hair mask in the shower when I've got loads of other things to do as well, such as a scrub and shaving my legs etc. I apply the hair mask and then pile my hair up on top of my head secured with a bulldog clip whilst I get on with the other things.

I find that this hair mask is easy to apply as it is quite thick, and it is easy enough to coat my hair completely in it, I always use a tonne of conditioner hence why I get through two bottles to just one bottle of shampoo. This rinses out well, but it does still feel as though my hair is coated in the hair mask after I've rinsed it out, in a good way not a bad way though.

Once I get out of the shower my hair is supremely easy enough to comb through after using this hair mask, with no tangles whatsoever. My hair feels completely nourished and in much better condition, even whilst still wet. Once my hair is dry it definitely feels and looks very healthy and clean, and is lovely and super soft and shiny after using this hair mask, it definitely feels intensely moisturised, and any frizzy bits are banished.

Overall I'm happy with this for the low price, I think that it is much more intensely moisturising than the regular coconut and almond conditioner, however it is probably too much for every time I wash my hair, so I'm happy to alternate them both. Like most products it works best with the other matching products in the range, and I would definitely buy this again.
